dentist recommendation

While vacationing in Oaxaca in January/ & February, I need to have 2 root canals and crowns done. I would greatly appreciate a dentist recommendation to perform this work. Also, if the dentist has a facebook or website, please include in your response.

Thank you.

We've been using Dr. Daniel Tenorio for our general dentistry and crowns for a decade or more and have been extremely pleased. His phone number is 516-2613, address Abasolo 213. For root canals we use Dr. Eduardo Javier Flores Corzo, at Armenta y Lopez 619, tel. 516-7357 or 514-6220. I've had a root canal done, and my wife has had 10 - 12, believe it or not. My brother is a Canadian dentist and on visits north has checked the work both of us have had and has given his seal of approval. The endodontist was president of the Oaxaca endodontist association, and has travelled extensively to conferences and the like. I don't think either has a website, but I don't hold too much stock in websites in terms of being indicative of quality of work. For periodontic work and implants, use Dr. Alba Tenorio, Calle Reforma 400, tel 516-0834. Again, my wife has used her extensively. All three speak sufficient or good English. Alba's email is tenoriooa2002@yahoo.com.mx. Flores' email is (or was) drjavierfc@yahoo.com, and Daniel's is danieltenorio@yahoo.com. Tell each that I referred you. If any recommend other specialists to do additional work, other than referring to each other, I suggest that you stick to these three. It seems like alliances and relationships between medical people down here change from time time time, I suppose no different than in the US or Canada.

Thanks for the quick and very informative response.

I would also appreciate your recommendation for a rental for the period January 15 to March 13--one person, usual amenities and garden/balcony.

3. Re: dentist recommendation

I cannot recommend specific accommodations because I'm in the business. In any event the best rentals for longer term are usually taken by now by snowbirds. On the other hand, there are a couple of modestly priced places suitable for longer term rentals listed on http://www.oaxacabedandbreakfast.org. There are also some places in the city calling themselves hostals, but in fact are inexpensive hotels, some with shared bath and others having private baths, around 500 pesos a night. Google with the word Oaxaca, the word or phrase suites, or hostals, or apartment hotels, etc. Otherwise, just look on tripadvisor under hotels or hostals or bed & breakfasts.

4. Re: dentist recommendation

I want to second the recommendation for Dr. Daniel Tenorio. My husband and I have both used him for the past 5 years for annual check-ups, two crowns, a root canal, and a bridge replacement. His work is high quality, his service excellent, and his prices fair.

He did refer us to another dentist for the root canal; not the one Alvin names, but she also did excellent work.
