affordable places to eat in Mexico City

We'll soon be in Mexico for eight days and are wondering about eating at affordable places. We like all food. I looked at the first couple of pages of dining places listed on Trip Advisor but it seemed that the list was rather upmarket and spendy which would be fine for one splurge. We've been in Mexico a few times and finding affordable places to eat that are also good is not that difficult but we would appreciate getting some recommendations from those with time and experience in the cap city. Thanks for any recommendations. Feel free to list any neighborhoods but we will be staying close to f la Condesa.

Eat tacos!

For affordable Mexican food, eat tacos, I personally like el Tizoncito with branches in the historic centre, Condesa, Coyoacan and other areas. You can expect a meal for two for about 300 pesos with beers! It's safe and nice.

Otherwise, try Sanborn's and Vips, not the tastiest, but reliable and many many branches around with assorted Mexican "antojitos". Meal plans start at around 100 up to 250 pesos.

For other options, you need to know the area you will be in for suggestions.

Hope this helps!

Hi unclelouie,

Condesa neighborhood is not exactly affordable, however from monday to friday at lunch hour only look for the office areas and look for comida corrida small restaurants , there you will have authentic mexican food for about 5 usd but most food is spicy
