Hi! We're looking for apartments during our stay at Academia Falcon and they've offered us some apts that are off-campus and rented by private owners. My only dilemma is they can't show me any pics of the apts and I'm not comfortable renting without seeing a pic of the apt. Does anyone know any info on those apts...are they nice, clean..stayed there before...etc? I'd hate to commit to a month and not be happy where I'm staying. THX!

I talked to some folks a few days ago that had stayed at the Falcon housing, and were not happy with it. However, I'm not sure if it was the on-campus or off-campus housing. If you're looking for rental housing for a month, you can try VRBO.com, they have several houses and apartments for weekly and monthly rental. You can also look at the Inns and B&Bs on this site where they are ranked by recommendation level here: tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g150799-c2-Guanajuato…

Go to the Academia's webiste and there is a list of references there. Email all of them asking for input on the apartments. When are you going? I'm planning a two-week stay sometime this spring. I'll be staying w/ a family.

I studied at Academia Falcon in the summer of 2007. I stayed for a week at the school, in one of the rooms. I was highly satisfied with the lodging there. I had a room with bath, which I would recommend, since otherwise you might have to walk a ways outside to the bathroom. My room was spacious (2 beds), clean, and quiet. No frills, but drinking water was provided.

The second week, my husband joined me, so we rented a flat. We rented from gtomex.com/guanajuato_rentals_units1-4.htm. The apartment was great - just a few blocks from Academia Falcon. The owner has multiple apartments for rent.

Hello,

I studied at Academia Falcon from Sept. until Dec. 2007. We did not have housing before we arrived. We were shown some of the off-campus housing by the school. While they were very cheap, most were quite far up the hill from the school and would have been quite a trek from school. Also, while Guanajuato is a safe town, various teachers at the school advised us that walking in these neighborhoods after dark is not safe. So, I would advise getting a reservation for a few nights at a hotel and then see the apartments first.

BTW, I ending up staying a "Casa de Jorge" which is featured on www.gtomex.com. It was a bit more expensive than the places the school showed us, but it was close to school, very safe, and comfortable.

Have Fun!
