I've always read and never shared but it is time.
Came last fall for the first time and will definitely return. However I will be more aware of certain things. Like hills and stairs. If you are older or a little out of shape dealing with these can be hard especially if you are in Z when it is humid and you are getting used to the heat and humidity. Loved staying on La Madera but will be moving towards hotels/bungalows NOT up on Eva Semana and not up the Irma hill. Loved the look of Villas Miramar, casa sun and moon, La Quinta de don Andres, all on a flat walk into town and to the walkway to the beach at Palacios.
And I have to say about restaurants recommended on TA someone is sure padding those and steering to weird choices. I mean Mi Chayito??? Really bad faux Chinese food that tasted of nothing but soy sauce. (had a very forgettable lunch there) And all the places with the overpriced frozen shrimp rolled in coconut. Or Banana's for breakfast that makes pancakes with a mix you add water to? and charges you extra for toast?
But La Condessa at La Barra de Potosi is well worth the trip for only the food if not for the gorgeous beach (my wife wanted to walk much further along it than I could LOL)
I looked forward to fishing and unfortunately went with a guide overrated by the "experts" on this board and while we caught some fish we were forced to take it to Otilias on Las Gatas to be cooked and there cooking was awful - battered and deep fried. Luckily we went with another captain the next week and were taken with our Dorado to Chez Arnoldos where all the preparations of the fish were gourmet delicious. What a find!!!
We'll be back for sure but with a different set of choices.
