We can't decide where to stay Now Amber Resort in Puerto Vallarta or Dreams Villamagna Nuevo in Nuevo Vallarta. We have kids ranging from 3 to 12. Would like nice beach, pools and a great kids club is a must! Looking to go next spring.
Thanks

Welcome to the PV forum. :-)
Some of the answer depends on whether this is your first trip to Puerto Vallarta. I'll stop there because if you've been before, then you know about their locations and distances to PV.
Now Amber isn't reportedly on a great beach, but people really like the resort, or there may be other places that would interest you if you want town to be easily accessible. Dreams in Nuevo is on a better beach.
It also depends on what a nice beach is to you, it's the pacific like you're used to. :-)
It will also help with suggestions as to how many children you have, and their exact ages.
Thank you so much for your quick response!
There are actually 3 families traveling to PV. I myself have never been but have been told the beaches are not like Cancun. One of the families has been to PV, I have traveled to Hawaii, Caribbean and obviously California beaches.
We have 6 adults and 5 kids (Ages: 3 and 1/2, 5, 7, 9, 11).
We really want a SAFE luxury resort with a decent beach and pools.
How far is it from the airport?
You won't be disappointed with either resort. We have stayed at both. It's a tough call which would be my first pick if I were bringing children that age....I think I would go with the Now Amber. Just because you are closer to town and more stuff to do. The stores are nearby to walk to and more going on on the beach. They both have great kids clubs. You won't go wrong with either one.. enjoy!
Both have great restaurants with no reservations needed. Dreams VM are all junior suites with jacuzzi on the decks. There are 3 pools at Dreams and you can walk for a long way in either direction on a smooth flat beach at Dreams. Dreams has a great kids club.
"We really want a SAFE luxury resort "
To my knowledge, there are no UNsafe luxury resorts LOL. All kidding aside, PV is a safe place to visit, it's a beautiful town with wonderful people, and a delight to explore. :-)
The beaches are much like Hawaii and California. They can vary, but they'll never come close to what you've seen in the Caribbean.
Dreams and Now Amber are pretty much equal distance from the airport.
I just went through this same decision for a Christmas Vacation for my family. I ultimately decided on Now Amber for the following reasons: more restaurant choices at Now Amber than Dreams VM (the Italian rest. at Dreams is adult only, and that is my kids' favorite), bathroom privacy is better at Now- Dreams bathroom is very open concept, Now is closer to the Malecon and downtown PV, no drinks allowed in the pools at Dreams, and Dreams has condos in its complex that has lead to reviews of a lack of lounge chairs during busy times. I do think either choice is good :)
How soon will you decide? We are headed to NOW in a few weeks and have been to Dreams recently also. We loved dreams and were very tempted to go again (it was literally hard to book elsewhere after our AMAZING dreams experience) but to me, this go around, being closer to town with more to do for less cab fare was most important. It defintely feels like a bit of a trek making it in to Malecon/zona romantica area if you plan to go a few times from Dreams.
Someone shared a youtube video of the beach at Now Amber and honestly it looked more than fine. Maybe a stone or two but swimable surf from what i could tell. Beaches at Dreams are probabaly nicer and allow "better walking" in either direction.
I will report back after my NOW trip in a few weeks if you are still looking to decide but so far as all inclusives go you have narrowed it down to 2 fantastic options.
I've stayed at NowAmber but we just booked for Dreams VillaMagna for our next trip. I liked the food at Now Amber and the rooms were fine but I didn't like the cramped, non tropical feel of the resort. The Beach was okay but I've stayed in Nuevo before and you certainly can't compare the two with the beaches in Nuevo being much more condusive to kid's activities. The beach at Now was rocky/pebbly - certainly not the fine sand with long rolling waves for boogie boarding like you find out in Nuevo. With kids I like the buffet for convenience as it's such a long time to sit at an ala carte after an exhausting day playing in the beach and/or the pool so I don't usually get too excited about the sit down choices. There both owned by Amstar resorts so you get about the same food, drinks, service from what I've seen from both resort chains so I think it comes down in what you want for a "feel" on your vacation. Closer to town go with NOW, more tropical better ocean go with Dreams.
after seeing posts about dreams i was certain that where we would go next year, then i read that the bars close at 11pm, while we're not big drinkers this is too early for holiday so now we're going to now amber, both are similar looking quality etc and dreams prob has the better beach but to be honest we never get to a decent beach at home so we're grateful for what we get, as said on youtube it looks fine to me
I would love any one who has been to both to compare the resorts. I can still change my mind to something else for our trip ;)
