Farmer's Market won't be open in August, but there's plenty to see and plenty of shopping by just wandering around PV, best walking town ever! First off....I can't quite tell.....is this your first trip to PV?

There is a flea market on the downtown map on this website. All the maps are connected North to South.

Also good flea market shopping on the island on the Rio Cuale, the river that divides downtown from the south side....on the maps. The beach vendors have a variety of great buys too.

Good zipline is Los Veranos Canopy Tour. It's a blast! I always book ahead before I go. Often there is a discount on the Internet.

You might want a really special dinner at Hacienda San Angel http://haciendasanangel.com

Great view and dinner. Live mariachis. Service is impeccable. Reservations are needed. It's amazing and you can dress casual if you like.

here's some fun stuff....

Walk the Malecon in the evening....Sunday is best for more food vendors and more street performers, lots of local families on Sunday nights.....but it can be pretty active on other nights too.

You will love Villa Premiere! we were just there in March. We walked to the Malecon and then to the south side with ease. Sometimes we would take the bus to the south side and always walk back to the hotel - it was one of the highlights of our holiday. We did not do all inclusive (breakfast included) and ate out every evening. The hotel is very quiet - no music around the pool at all, and no entertainment team. We loved it. All rooms face the ocean. Service was really good. Have a great time.

I definitely recommend in August if you plan to do the zipline, take the earliest tour of the day before it gets too hot/humid. Also make sure you take your insect repellant, the canopy is very verdant and lush in the summer months and the insects are hopping.

Paradise Market on Pulpito should be open in August. It usually stays open year round.

Because you're traveling in rainy season to an area that's not on open ocean but in a bay with river tributaries, remember that after a good hard rain there will be silt and sediment stirred up from river runoff into the bay. It will make the bay murky in many spots and less enjoyable for swimming in those spots, so be sure to get out and around the bay to areas away from rivers for clearer water to swim. A really nice area is along the south coast from Conchas Chinas down to the Girasol Sur condos. It stays quite clear there. Go out to La Playita at the Lindo Mar Resort for breakfast one weekday, stay for happy hour at noon and enjoy the beautiful view.

I was at the Basilio Badillo market this morning, sat outside of Nacho Daddy enjoying the live music from The Texas Embassy Blues Band and Joe King Carrasco across the road. Almost everyone I know in town came by, amazing community thing, kept having to get up for the obligatory cheek kiss. Got some Sausage Rolls from Mark at the amazing Leek & Thistle Pie stand, he has a great selection of pies for sale.

The Leek and Thistle Pie Company .... yum!!! We met the man and his great pies for the first time when he had a stand at the Pulpito Market - bought several fruit pies during our Christmas stay in December '11.
