Just wondering are there any shops near the Riu hotel. If so how far away from the hotel site.

About half a mile north up the road is a small mall at at Cerritos, which has a number of small outlets, three or four good restaurants, a massage place, and a general store that services the adjacent trailer park. You canr eturn down the berach by taking the road to the right to Mr Lionso's restaurant and walking back down the beach. Well worth exploring.
Here is a satellite view of the area neils is refering. Camaron Point is the area called Cerritos
The RIU is at the bottom and the strip mall at the top.
You may also take a Cerritos-Juarez bus in front of RIU and go to the Golden Zone in about 15 minutes.
If you are talking about tourist shopping, there is nothing there. You have to bus or taxi south about 4 or 5 miles.
so south four or five miles there are more shops. Is this a different place than the golden zone
This is getting confusing! What sort of shopping are you looking at?
Falconroger is talking about the Golden Zone, which does indeed have much more variety than the very small mall at Cerritos Point. But it is a ways from the RIU. You can email me off-line if you want our recommendations for specific shopping.
This is what I previously mentioned.
You may take a Cerritos-Juarez bus to the Golden Zone. Much more shopping available there. The bus stops right in front of RIU.
Once in the GZ you may take a Sabalo-Centro bus to the Centro area and the Centro- Mercado for unlimited shopping.
You really should go to Centro on your visit to Mazatlan. It is such a unique area, and many historical sites to see.
Want more info? Ask away!
SundaySpike.......no, that IS the Gold Zone. There is nothing near or in front of the RIU. It sits alone, away from everything.
hello
can you provide more information on the centro mercerlo ?? shopping area refered to in your post .........also what is there to see
going from RIU ..exact busses to get there and back
and other hints or ideas?
thank you so much.
sunsetgie,
Take the Cerritos-Juarez bus to the Golden Zone and get off at Dairy Queen. Lots of shopping there. You can then take the Sabalo-Centro bus from any bus stop in the GZ to Centro- Mercado. A taxi from the Riu to downtown is 180 pesos and 120 pesos to the GZ.
