My food report 1 |
|
First night, went to Zorritos...This is now off my list because the service that night was lacking, the food was so/so and for the money, there's better places. My friend ordered some taco combo dish..nothing to write home about. Although this is not a seafood joint, I saw someone eating a whole Mojarra (sp) and I ordered the same...again..just okay. Although I'm very liberal when it comes to the strip bars and all, I was annoyed that the waiter asked me 2 times if we were looking for table dances and kept proceeding to push Tabara's discount cards to us. Second night, we hit Su Casa and my friend liked the place a lot. I had a salad to start and the snapper special. It was perfect as always. They also bought us a round of Margaritas (which was the first time I've ever seen that there). My friend ordered the Tampiquena which was very good, but most Aca restaurants prepare this very well. 3rd night, I tried the new restaurant Zuntra...very upscale place. After my meal, I was reminded how I really don't care for upscale restaurants. Most patrons in there think they are big shots (and some may very well be) The mgr or owner of Babyo was there with girls half his age that were very attractive...typical scene. Now I will say their appetizers were excellent..we had some fried asparagus thing with cheese inside of it that was very good and the tuna tar tar was excellent. My entree was seabass and was nothing special at all. For some odd reason, they swiped my card twice which sent fraud alert to shut down my cc...Thank G-D I had my traveler's check with me or it would have been very embarassing. I also didn't care for 6 employees hovering over my back studying my credit card and check and was quite clear in telling them to back off. This is also the kind of place that hovers over you with a flash light when you are deciding how much to leave as tip...Kind of annoying....I would recommend this place to go for a drink and some appetizers which will allow you to leave satisfied and not broke. If A/C is a must and fine dining is the top priority then you may like Zuntra. One day on the beach we headed down to Caleta and at in La Cabana...Food was good, the shark tamales were excellent...I like Amigo Miguels a little better, but this was a nice place and very clean with good service.
There is a restaurant outside on the beach at the Malibu hotel (La Tabachin sp) that was referred to me by my friend who has been going for years. The food was very reasonably priced, very relaxed atmosphere, diverse menu and great service...I recommend it. I went to Vayma in Pie Dela Questa...we had pizza and some shrimp appetizers, watched the sunset and enjoyed the place. The food IMO is a little pricey for this part of town, but it was good and Vayma is a clean establishment compared to some others. Later we went into their pool which was a lot of fun..It's candle lit, nice music playing and we sipped Mezcal for hours with some Honeys in the pool...No comment! La Tortuga....As always, never lets me down. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the place is unique. It's off a side street near offic max with 2 levels. It's like dining in a jungle because the tables are set on the floor in the middle of trees....very cool. They are open late, it's a fun, relaxing place and the Mexican food there is very good with large portions. I had snapper, it came with black beans, rice..My friend had snapper with shrimp (must have been 30 small shrimp on there and my other friend got the combo plate with all kinds of Mexican goodies...They brought us out fresh bread, and freshly made salsa (upon asking). Their pickled Jalepenos are great....the chips were soggy, but it was around mid night. Report as inappropriate |

NEED - Just read your post [then, reread it more slowly - to savor the flavor (I could actually taste everything!) and to digest it all. Thank you very much for the feedback. Enjoyed the detail. I'm sure we'll have a few follow-up questions (for you) at some point. Ron Report as inappropriate

I'm glad you find it well detailed...I flew through the post and didn't look back as I'm busy dealing with numerous work issues. I have more places to mention and more food to try, but this vacation was wierd. I didn't rest at all, drank almost every night (I think one drink was laced with something) and didn't hit some of my favorite spots. Report as inappropriate

ZZAA..thanks again for that basket...I wish we could have met you. I had my hands full if you know what I mean. I swear 4 hours there feels like 20 minutes especially during that time when it transforms from day to night...Ron, I recommend again if you decide to have breakfast and lounge around the pool at the V.V. to do it. One thing to note. Although the restaurant is nice, I heard the service was slow and not the best. Near the pool is a shady area with tables and chairs. My suggestion is that you order breakfast outside and eat outside if it's not too hot. Ask for Israel or Teddy or the other guy that works behind the bar...Israel knows me by name well, Teddy calls me Frank, but may not know by name. They bring it out fast and treat you well by the pool...Make sure you tell them you are my friend and they will take care of you. Report as inappropriate

NEED - Thanks for the additional VV info. It's still on our "list" (with a question mark - "time permitting"). I know you'll be reporting more ... but, * Did ya have your tacos al pastor? (Where?) * What did your "indecisive" pal think of ACA? (Still can't believe you took him to Zorrito's on the first night!?) Ron Report as inappropriate

Thanks for all the info need. Your comments on Zuntra are interesting after all the negative things we´ve heard, at least things are looking up a little bit for them. And yes what did your friend think of Acapulco????? Report as inappropriate

well my friend doesn't speak more than two words. He's a good looking guy and a few hotties were ready for him, but he didn't partake...He really liked Acapulco and would go back, but he didnt attend Palladium with me and that was a strategic error on his part. I can't force people to live it up, but he did like it. He was surprised that I was still functioning with all my shinannigans..My other friend who is in his 40's could hang in Acapulco so it was great overall! One thing I will note...I'm totally into partying until sunrise and I'm into getting involved with just about anything in Aca, strip bars, dirty local bars, clubs etc, but I'm not into the Cocaine scene and it is vicious over there in the nightlife almost as if the 70's never ended and a lot of the hot women we met were into this scene so that was the only negative...plus we met some extremely shady girls there that seemed to have unlimited money, a amazing condo with an amazing view, nice cars etc, but no real reason for having them. Again, I think drugs or high end prostitution was involved, but then again, I analyze everything too much. Report as inappropriate
