Best Route to Yuma

PStreet1 or others - been staying at Club Marena all month. Entered Baja from California but leaving from here this Thursday to visit friends in Tucson and Phoenix. Will stop first night after leaving here in Yuma. Plan to take the new road (Hi 2) at Potpola up to Tecate, and the 2 D toll road from Tecate to Mexicali. Would you advise taking Mexico Highway 2 to San Luis and crossing there, or going through Mexicali to the Calexico crossing? Thanks in advance!

First, you should have said hi--we live at Club Marena. :-)

Best way to Yuma: Take the new road to Tecate and then cross the border there. It's an easy crossing and the road in the U.S. is a very nice (short) road to the interstate. It won't take you long to get from Tecate to Yuma; it will be less than two hours. We live in Phoenix (when we don't live here), and the total drive from Club Marena to Phoenix is only 400 miles, door to door, if we cross at San Ysidro. Going by way of Tecate is slightly less, and should save you about an hour--staying in Mexico longer, in my opinion, won't save you any more time.; it's 200 miles from Yuma to Phoenix--3 hours?

Thanks much PStreet! We're in Villa Number 6. Stop by if you're headed to the pool area.
