Help finding last minute camp site please!

My husband, sister and I (along with our dog) are looking to camp anywhere in the Okanagan area. We will have two tents and are looking for a decent sized campsite. Most important is privacy and some shade (so ideally campsites that have a lot of trees in between sites and not those that are just big open fields). We would like something that has flush toilets, showers, even a little campground store would be great. We need something that would be close to walking trails or something for the dog and would love a firepit . For anyone who has camped in Ontario, Sandbanks was our favourite camping spot for reference! :)

I am looking for something very last minute (in just a couple of weeks for the August long weekend) as this came up unexpectedly but I am hoping to find something that works.

You might want to consider the Shuswaps instead..

these are the one at the south end of Penticton - http://tinyurl.com/ksq8dc5 and 2 in Kaleden

First Choice for what you are looking for would be Camp Along in Kaleden; Banbury is usually full on Aug weekend

then starting from west end there is Wrigth Beach in Penticton- tree in the tent area.

Happy Hour is closed now called Barefoot Resort (they have tents and yurts); Beachcomber and Shady Trees are closed, South Beach Garden is mostly RVs; Oxbow is mostly RV, at the east end Lake Skaka is fenced in so not sure what they have for tenting .

but you need to call to see if they are booked for the long weekend.

The long weekend is usually booked up solid. Because of the Alberta floods, there were some openings at Gallagher Lake a week ago but ...long weekend? Worth a try.

Also Barefoot is brand new, so they may have openings. I don't think you will find a " decent size camp with trees between" anywhere, the good ones sell out in March when the bookings first open (i.e. Osoyoos Haynes Pt campground sells out in mere hours in March when bookings open at 6am)
