We're staying in a rental house on Fort Morgan Beach near the 'Dunes'. Had some questions before we left and there wasn't much out here. Thought I'd try to give some feedback on a couple of items.
Oil rigs: yes, you can see them clearly from the beach. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as a tourist I could live without them. You get used to them and it really doesn't affect your experience.
College kids: there's a mix of college kids and families. So far everyone is behaving themselves and haven't seen any problems.
What is there do? If you want convenience stay in Gulf Shores. On Fort Morgan groceries, restaurants, gas, etc will require a trip to GS. There is a small C store on FM for essentials. And there is Tacky Jacks for a restaurant - it's kind of a dive beach bar with bar food.
The beach here is great, playing volleyball with some of the college groups and doing some swimming. The water is a little cold but you can get in.
Will report more as our week goes on.
