Atlantis - can you use the waterpark in the rain?

Hi, we're thinking of doing a week at the Atlantis in the Bahamas early this July - but we are worried about the weather that time of year. I know it's the start of the rainy season (and hurricanes!). How much rain are we likely to get does anyone know, and when it does rain, do they close the waterparks? Or only if it's thunder and lightening (and how often is that likely anyway?), I know our kids won't mind the waterpark in the rain, but don't want it to actually close all the time!

Many thanks, Marion

Rain should be no issue, but if there is lightning, they will close the pools, slides, beach, etc. It's usually a warm rain and doesn't last long, but as this is the beginning of the rainy season, all day showers are possible. Most of the lightning tends to be from late afternoon storms, so if you can plan your day early.

Of course, you could luck out and have none of the sort. Most weather forecasts for Nassau like to show a possibility of rain/ scattered thunderstorms, but this seems more like them hedging their bets sometimes! .

We have been to Atlantis in July 5 times and never had issues with rain. If there was any rain at all, it was usually at night. We have never had to change plans due to rain. Have a blast!

Have never been there with lightening but have been when there are showers--never last very long and people stay in the pools and never seen lifeguards make anyone get out.

We had lightening last year in mid June (late morning). We had to get out of the water for about an hour or so, no problem at all :)

If it's pouring rain they close until it lets' up. Showers they stay open. Lightening they close.

Always best to head inside when it starts raining. Because what seems to be a rain shower, can quickly become a thunderstorm in minutes, especially during the spring and summer months.

Very many thanks everyone - that's very encouraging. We have been to the Atlantis in Dubai, but rain was definitely not an issue there!!!!

We just can't decide whether to risk the Caribbean in July, or stay 'safer' in Bermuda where my understanding is that the rainy season is less rainy than in the Caribbean.
