Free Snorkelling

Does anyone know if the Riu is still offering free snorkelling to compensate for their water facilities being still under construction?

You probably should discuss that with the Riu Management when you get there. We were with a large group of people when we went to the Riu and after we arrived, somebody in our group mentioned the free watersports that were offered at the time we booked w/the hotel. They told us that they were not available at the time and they immediately gave us paper vouchers after we decided on either a snorkel trip or massage at the spa. Then we had to book our snorkel trip at the hospitality desk immediately in order to use the vouchers before the trips were booked up on the day we wanted to go. This all took place in February so I am unsure if their watersports are offered yet or not. They were very nice about it. We took our own snorkel equipment with us to the Bahamas since we do a lot of snorkelling when we go to an island but, the snorkelling boat will provide you with what you need...they took us to 2 different locations that were great...one shallow and one deep. They also do dives if you are interested. The beach at the Riu is beautiful and the water is crystal clear but, you won't need snorkel equipment there since there isn't reefs off the beach so don't feel cheated out of not having snorkels at the hotel. We always are torn between staying at a place that has reefs immediately in the water when you get in (Cayman Islands Spanish Bay Reef....ultimate diving and snorkelling) or unlimited, beautiful sandy beach with clear, mild water (Negril, Paradise Island, St. Martin, St. John, Cayman Brac). Have a wonderful time.
