Wyndham Nassau Resort $135, Orange Hill Beach $99 vs Nassau...

HI,

I have been reading reviews of various hotels in Nassau for the past week or so and I must thank all the trip advisor posters who are so generous with their thoughts & advice :) I'm going to Nassau with my 20 year old college age brother, I'm 27/f. We're staying at the Radisson on all inclusive for 3 nights/4 days ( an auction benefit I won ) but are tagging on two more nights and wanted to pick a good transition hotel. Between the 3 I've mentioned (Wyndham Nassau Resort $135, Orange Hill Beach $99 vs Nassau Beach Hotel $81) & considering their prices, could anyone give us some guidance on where to stay?

Every single one has some negative reviews - We're mainly concerned with ease of check-in, clean sheets/showers, security and possibilty to rent a safe for laptop) and not running into a whole lot of extras added on. We plan to eat well while at the Radisson but are quite budget minded as far as food goes for the remainder.. Would rather spend the money on a daytime activity or night out.

Also; if there are specific suggestions for 20 yr/college aged guys I know my brother would most appreciate your help :)

Orange Hill is a decent property, but it's really geared toward an older crowd, and not easy to get around in the evening.

I'd opt for either of the other two. Wyndham is the closest in value to the Radisson, but for $81 plus taxes etc... Nassau Beach is still a very decent place to stay. Don't forget. whichever you choose, those taxes, gratuities etc will be added to your bill. As far as you laptop, Wyndham may be the only one with a safe for it. (why are you even taking it???)

I wouldn't leave my laptop in ANY resort hotel.

For stretching the budget, there's cafe johnny Canoes at the Nassau Beach Hotel, Sabarros, and the local haunts at the Fish fry. Can't beat the prices or the flavor.

ScubaGirrl Thank you for bringing me to my senses ;) I have decided to leave the laptop at home -- I guess if I need to get in contact with home I'll buy a phone card for cheap calls to the U.S.

Can you buy those there??

I had thought the internet would be helpful to look up stuff once down there but I'm sure I'll find out all I need to know :) It's truly not worth lugging the laptop & worrying about it.

We've decided to on Wyndham, thanks for your help!

Do you know where I can find additional info about the "Booze Cruise"?

If you're ever coming to NYC, please do let me know!

Sincerely,

Caroline

The Wyndham does have an internet business center right in the lobby near the 'C' tower where you can get online for 5 or 10 cents a minute (I forget which it was). Much better than dealing with a laptop. We always stay at the Wyndham and I agree that you've made a good choice. Now just go have fun!

Here's a link to the booze cruise.

http://www.boozecruisebahamas.com/

And your tour desk

majesticholidays.com/tours/…excursiont.htm

You'll have plenty of information at your fingertips, Dining guides, what to do guides, Tourist Newspapers and Maps are available everywhere, and thru your concierge (that's why hotels have conceirge, right??)

As for phone cards, you can buy them in the souvenier shops or pharmacy. Be sure to use them from a pay phone, and press the # button to engage the conversation once connected.

Using a phone card from your room phone will incur some serious phone charges.

BTW.. my "work" is based in NYC, I go there often.

My family is from Long Island.

LineeNYC.. Nassau Beach Hotel is not a luxurious hotel but it suits your purposes. My husband, myself and my mother stayed there for a long weekend and it wasn't that horrible. We did have to be moved 2 times but they did so in a timely manner. We finally got a nice room on the top floor with a gorgeous view. We were on a budget as well (we are both law enforcement!) and this was a suitable accomodation. The beach is fantastic and you must go to Johnny Canoes if you choose this hotel. Again, this is not Atlantis so if all you require is somewhere to put your luggage and take a shower I would recommend it. We had a great time. Also go next door (when we were there it was the Crystal Palace Casino I think). It is really nice as well. Hope this helps. Have a great time.
