I'm going to the Atlantis hotel in the Bahamas the very last week of April 2006. I really need some great advice from families who have traveled to the bahamas with small children.. especially those who have actually stayed at the Atlantis hotel. I have to kids ages 5 and 2, i thought this would be a great hotel to relax, drink a margarita while I watch them play in the sand and pool.I'm so confused i found this site after booking my NON refundable vacation to the Atlantis hotel,im having second thoughts reading the posts and learning that the end of april is still considered spring break for some college kids. From the posts i have read, this is quite the opposite of what i belived i was buying "5 stars" "great service" -if i wanted a crazy stressful vacation i would have choosen Disney in Florida-I live in Los Angeles where disneyland is 20 minutes away this is not my idea of a relaxing vacation. Please give me info on where to eat with kids, I just cant bear to many buffets. Good Service is a must. I want good ideas on where to go with kids, outside the hotel, tours, scenic drives, etc. Does anyone have any good advice for a mom trying to plan and make the best out of this a very very expensive unrefundable vacation. I really appreciate it.

Don't freak out just yet.

With a little planning, you'll be able to salvage your vacation and relax with your kids. Yes, the place will be very crowded, but there are less crowded areas to be found on the premises. Off property, there a lovely little zoo, pirates museum, plenty of snorkeling tours and less expensive alternatives to dining. (Dominos pizza even delivers)

Zio Gigi is nearby, News Cafe for easy breakfasts and even Quiznos across the street.

You might just luck out with the last week of April, since most kids go back to school the week after easter.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm taking notes. Is there a great beach offsite and onsite of the Atlantis, where the water is calm enough for the kids?

the beach at atlantis is not a calm beach for small kids. there are great beaches at blue lagoon, a boat ride away, but if you are alone with the two kids, the pools would be better. one pool has a zero entry....where the little ones can just wade in.

Blue Lagoon is Closed. The lagoon at Atlantis is calm, as well as the public beaches in Nassau and Cable Beach.
