Does anyone know what is the cheapest way to get from Freeport to Nassau?

The Cheapest way to go between these two islands is by mailboat, but it's not much cheaper than flying, and takes about 8 /9 hours at sea. It does the run 2x per week, and sometimes is seriously delayed by tide, weather or arrival of goods to the dock.. in other words ..it's unreliable. (I've taken the mailboat and been delayed 30 hours or more.. with no hotel for a stay over.).

Other than the mailboats, the locals use Bahamasair. (www.bahamasair.com).. they are also sometimes unreliable, but they have scheduled flights several times a day.

The islands are 80 miles apart in open seas, there are no ferry services.

Thanks. I think we are just going to stay put in Freeport. We visited last year and I wanted to explore a few of the the other islands but we can just fly directly to Nassau at a later date.
