Leaving in 2 days--still happy! :)

Hi guys

It's almost here, we leave in 2 days! We are not the type to pack lightly but we must for this trip due to tight connections we don't want to miss! So carry-on it will be! We also decided not to book a jeep after all the debate, we are just hoping we can get one when we get there. Staying at the Westin (Pool is closed) and now, thanks to Congress, the National Park Beaches are closed too. Still happy to be going away for our little getaway though--nothing is stopping us!!

Any tips on where we can pick up sun block since we can't pack much toiletries in our carry on?? How about the best place to stock up on some water? Sunblock and water--yea thats' all we need. :) :) Oh and a nice place to dine for our Anniversary on Monday night? We make 20 years together, 6 years married!

I found reasonably priced sunblock at the market outside of Rhumb Lines. Used what we needed and then left the rest, along with bug spray, with Sharkey at 420 to Center.

Love your attitude! I think you will be fine this time of year finding a jeep. We usually get sunscreen at Chelsea Pharmacy at the Marketplace (second floor above Starfish Market). They have a good selection.

Lots of choices for water, St John Market is within easy walking distance from the Westin.

Here is a list of restaurants and when they open www.stjohnspice.com/stjohnrestaurants.htm

Have fun and congratulations!

You're going to have a great time! Maybe as you walk around town before your Anniversary you will read menus and look at a few spots. Am sure you'll find one that you like. Given state of Westin right now I would not hesitate to ask a manager at the check in desk to be supplied with bottled water throughout your stay. All they can do is decline. And add me to the list of loving your attitude. Enjoy!!

Enjoy your trip and congrats on your anniversary! We just returned last night after celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at Gallows Point. As far as the beach closures go you will find some roped off. However, people are still using them - either by parking away from the barricaded lots or by just moving the barricades. We were nicely asked to leave Waterlemon by a Park Officer in a boat. Luckily, we had just finished snorkeling and were on our way back in. There were no signs or barricades on the parking lot there.

You have a lot of good choices for restaurants, even though some are still closed. We loved Asolare, the view, mood, and food were all perfect. It's a great choice if you want to go somewhere special. Unfortunately, our waiter wasn't the best and it sort of left us wanting.....If you decide to go there be sure to get a reservation and get there before the sunset. Our best meal was at Morgan's Mango - and we didn't even really plan to go there. Food, atmosphere and service were all fantastic.

Enjoy your anniversary, hope you have as memorable trip as we did. Just a tip, I did keep a journal of notes each day. Really helps to remember everything you did!

@2browndogs thank you and congratulations to you guys as well!! That's actually the place we have in mind...need to make our reservation now.

So far today was our 1st full day and we scoped out all of the north shore then coral bay and came back into cruz bay via centerline. Now that we have a lay of the land (although we still want to make our way to saltpond and the east end) we plan to snorkel tomorrow. We were planning on going to waterlemon! We are having a blast and so sorry this trip will be so short. We already know we will come back for a whole week next year! And yes, we rented a jeep :)

Depending on where you are staying, there could be sunscreen there already.

In case you missed it, Mickey, the STJ beaches have reopened! Great time to be on St John. Come and enjoy the sun and relaxed days! Pack for hot and humid ; ) The St John Market is just outside the Westin. They have great wines!
