Villa review - Rainbow Beach Coral Bay |
|
Hi all, I have always enjoyed reading the trip reports on this forum, but I dont think I have the stamina to pour my whole two weeks into one report, so I will brake it down. First , the Villa. Rainbow Beach Villa is actually on Johnson Bay, just outside of Coral Bay. It has four bedrooms all w/AC, three of which have their own private bath, and a loft with two queen sizes beds. It could easily accomadate 10 - 12 people. All four bedrroms have sliding doors to the pool on the main level, or the beach on the ground level. The open floor plan of kitchen w/ center island, dining room, great room all looks out to the pool w/hot tub and bay beyond through a wall of sliding glass door. Perfect for allowing those island breezes to come in, and watching the sail boats go by. It sits directly on the waters edge. The beach is " rough sand", not fine white, not stone. It has sea grass, so its not a great swimming spot, but if you wander out a ways there is a really neat sandy reef. My husband and brother snorkled for the fun of it and had a great time. The sandy lawn, with a privacy hedge looks like a great place for kids to play in the sand. We did not spend a lot of time down there, preferring to lounge by the pool / hot tub instead. ( we were six adults with no children). Next time we will rent kayaks from Crabbys for a week and keep them right at the villa. As for bugs, there were "no see ems" at dusk and dawn only, and a quick spay of OFF seemed to handle that just fine. Although there are villas right next door on each side, with the trees you have complete privacy. The breeze was constant and after the first night we never used our AC again. We ate in as much as out, and found the gas grill key. This is not a granite counter top kind of place. It was completely comfortable and exactly what we were looking for. We rented through Caribbean Villas , and when we come back in a couple of years, this villa will be our first choice . Please feel free to follow the link to see my pics. |

Thank you for sharing ncsyracuse! We just stayed at Rainbow Beach this past December and seeing your pictures really brought me back. This definitely isn't a luxury villa but fits a ton of people and has the best pool+deck+hottub set up that I've seen! So much space! We had donkeys come visit out on the road-side of the house a few mornings. Did you see them too? The grass against the beach was very surprising but kinda neat. The tiniest little lizards lived in that grass- maybe babies growing in the protection of the grass? I wish I had snorkeled out further- especially over to the right where the mangrove island and sand bar was. I'm glad you had a good time there!

Thank you so much nycsyracuse! We will be at the villa in a few weeks and I am getting more and more excited. This will be my first trip to STJ. Your report is GREATLY appreciated!
