Stayed at La Mer during Xmas of 2005. The views are amazing.. The villa is very comfortable for 2 or a party of 8. The bedrooms are all very private and the master suite is in its own seperate building.In the winter months there was no need for A/C in the bedrooms, my personal choice would be to have it in May. The drive to La Mer is not for the faint hearted the last 1/4 mile you really need to have 4 wheel drive.

The pool is located on a lower level and is the fiberglass style. We never used it. It did not look very appealing to us. If we were to choose the Coral Bay side of the island again I would put La Mer on our list.

Have stayed at Gallows many times, love the views and the easy local to town. Most of the units we have stayed in though are very much in need of updating.

I am not familiar with Seacape or Reef Bay.

Miles Away, by far is the nicest and most comfortable villa you will ever find. The views are spectacular and it's so private, yet close enoughto Cruz Bay. I've been to St John 5 times now and this past January we stayed at Miles Away and it is now one of my favorite plaes to stay. You cannot go wrong.

Thansk so much for your comments. Unfortunately Miles Away is now booked. I should have acted quickly. I did find out that Spyglass is open and located closer to Cruz bay area. That villa looks good.

Stayed at La Mer 6/2006 for honeymoon. I cant imagine a better view on the entire island. I could stare out at the view for hours. It really is a beautiful villa, very private. The drive up was very intimidating at first, but we got used to it fast. I woud stay there again in a heartbeat and definately recommend it.
