You'll be fine. Don't expect 5-star though. The lower rooms are quaint, yah, some are outdated, but it's all preference. I think some people are just really pickey (to each his/her own). Plus for the price you're paying you won't find a better ocean view on St. John in my opinion.

We stayed in a lower harbor view last year to save some cash . . . don't worry. No stained sheets to speak of. Like DJMousie said, it's not luxury, but it's very nice and the location is great.

You do get a little bit of noise from the ferries with the harbor rooms, but it never kept us from sleeping in. It's great to sit on the porch drinking coffee in the morning, just watching the boats come and go. :)

Both my stays at Gallows have been clean and great! Every unit is diffferent! You will have a great time! Just remember you are on island time and everybody and thing moves at a super slow pace!
