We are staying in April and wondered how long it would take us to walk from the B&B to jewelry stores?

Do you know when the Carnival happens in April?

Thanks,

Kathi

The Crystal Palace is about 3 blocks from Main Street, but it's VERY HILLY. You might not want to walk up, but going down you should be fine.

It's not advisable to walk at night, though. Ron Lockhart, the owner and host, should be able to advise you on the best way to get around at night if you're not renting a car.

Sorry, Kathi. I forgot to respond to your carnival question.

I don't think they've announced the dates yet, but it's a month-long affair, so there should be some carnival event if you're here in April.

It's about 10 minutes to walk down and at least double that to walk up. Very steep. We walked both ways in daytime and walked down in early evening, but took a taxi back after dark, but Ronnie said we would have been fine walking back since we were a group of 8.

Yup, it's a quick 2 minute walk down the hill and 10 minutes or so up(if in somewhat good shape!)! I have no problem telling people how to do it, to remain safe, and as always I say to take a cab home if late night. Would give that advice to anyone living anywhere at night.

The best days of carnival are usually the last week of April, which I am almost sure it will be this year. There are other activities leading up to that, of course.

Two things--

First, even if you do have a car, you are probably better off walking or cabbing if you are just going downtown. It's less than a half mile and you may not find a parking place any closer than that anyway.

Second--hey Ronnie!! It's been a LONG time. Hope you are well.
