Tings looking up, Grand Beach to be Wyndham Margaritaville

ST. THOMAS - The former Renaissance Grand Beach Resort property has been boarded up for years, but Wyndham announced this week that it will soon be given new life as a Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville resort. Wyndham made the announcement at its quarterly earnings call Wednesday.

The local news hinted at that a few months ago, and I think may have reported more specifics in yesterday's paper. Hope they get it up and running soon. Too many properties in need of upgrades, though many have upgraded in the last two years.

Buffet was born Christmas day 1946 - so will this primarily be oriented to Senior citizens?

I think the projected January 2015 opening is rather optimistic but one never knows!

trying to understand exactly where this property is, sounds like it's within view of the Sugar Bay Resort in this article. Will this change the character of Lindquist beach (will the property be on this beach or just nearby?)

It's on the Smith Bay Road further up on the left from the turnoff to Coki and next to Pneapple Village. Sugar Bay is much further East. The property has its own large beach and was a large resort development for many years. It's already been developed so there should be no concerns at all as to erosion or pollution.
