Chenay Bay Beach Resort |
|
Mom of 55 and daughter of 19 just want a safe, beach for snorkeling. Booked one week in March here and hope it will be nice. I booked through the resort to get a newly refurbished cottage with ocean view. I read that the beach is tiny and full of sea grass, plus you have to strain your neck to see that ocean view. Will this be ok? OH BOTHER... Report as inappropriate |

Hi I can't help you yet but I'll be going to Chenay Bay next week and I'll let you know how it is...I was hoping someone would have responded to your post before I actually left for St Croix. Report as inappropriate

OH, thank you soooo much I certainly would love to hear back from U and I'm so sorry no one is answering my post so U could get feed back too! Email me directly if you like:ksclark123@yahoo.com Really concerned about mold and mildew as I am very asthmatic. I also need to know where it's safe to go for two of us gals on our own. I waould love to go to these isolated snorkle coves, but don't want to be vunerable to trouble! I heard renting a car at Avis is best due to newer cars. I also heard some of the cottages are completely renovated while others are not. I spoke directly to Debbie and because I am paying more for the room directly she can offer more attention to details-so I didn't book on line. I'm not not into the big resorts or crowds so I think this will be nice, and I imagine sea grass is a fact of life, otherwise where are those little fishy's gonna go? HA! chinatown, I will try to be of assistance in some manner. We didn't stay at Chenay Bay but went to the beach. The beach is somewhat small but you will not find many long stretches of beach in STX like you would at some large resorts. The cottages are scattered and not necessarily in a row that face directly to the beach. Some have better views than others. It is a nice area. When we go back, I would consider Chenay Bay. It is actually just down the road from where we stay. It is close to alot of things. We rent from Judi of STX and she brings the car to your hotel. I did a lot of research on car rentals and never heard anything bad about them. Christiansted is only a few minutes from Chenay Bay. Sea Grass? I don't remember alot of sea grass when we were there. Feel free to email me with any other questions if you would like. ylw1900@yahoo.com YLW Report as inappropriate

Not to worry. We stayed at Chenay Bay last spring. If you asked for an oceanview cottage -- enjoy. Ours was up the hill slightly, landscaping and plants made it pleasant. The beach is small but adequate. We don't snorkel, but there are plenty of beaches good for snorkeling on St. Croix. If you were not planning to rent a car -- you might want to take one for a day so you can try other beaches. The restaurant at Chenay Bay -- which was in decline has a new menu and chef, it's supposed to be quite good. Best. Report as inappropriate
