sugar bay vs cottages by the sea |
|
we are planning our trip for this Jan or Feb. We have been to St Croix 9 years ago and stayed in a private condo on the north shore and it was very windy. We are taking our 18 mos old and were looking at a first floor condo where we could sit outside in the sun while she is napping. I've seen good and bad reviews on all of the different condos. Anybody have any suggestions? Report as inappropriate |

Both Cottages by the Sea and Sandcastle on the Beach are on the west end. The water is calmer and little or no wind. Sandcastles have nicer rooms, but Cottages has kitchens. I have stayed at both in the last year and personally perfer Sandcastles (AC makes a diffrence to me) and they also have two pools. Report as inappropriate

sand castle on the beach looks nice but the clothing optional pool bothers me. Is it a nice place to stay for families? Report as inappropriate

Hi! I would recommend the Divi. It's on the southeast side of the island. We stayed at Coakley Bay condos in Feb up in the G building and it was VERY windy and cool, but when we drove over to the Divi to use the beach we noticed that there was just a gentle breeze. The rooms open right onto the beach. (They also have some up higher on a hill, so I'd request the beachside ones) We drove all over the island and looked at several of the condos on the north side. All 'seemed' just fine. Lots of people staying in them all. But I'm not sure about how windy it is to stay there at that time of the year since I wasn't thinking about that at the time--- just how beautiful the view was from that area! I wasn't that impressed with the places to stay on the west side of the island. LOVED the beach there, but I did not want to stay there. That's just me, others like it. You can email me if you want more info. Paula11554@aol Report as inappropriate

Definately go with Cottages by the Sea. We stayed there Oct'05. All have AC, kitchens and patios where you can sit and listen for your young one to wake up from a nap. The beach is the best for a young one too. We went swimming from early morning to early evening every day. Had planned to go to other beaches but didn't have any reason to. If you are comparing Sugar BEACH condos, well as they say in realestate, Location is everything. Report as inappropriate
