worth it to stay on Grace bay? 1st timer w tight budget

We are 30 something Honeymooners heading to Provo in February for the first time. We are not party-ers, so do not need to be near party central, but would rather enjoy some nice meals, and maybe meet a couple or two somewhere along the way. Our budget is VERY tight. We had a small wedding, and wa cannot afford more than 200 per night. We like the idea of being near the beach and on grace bay, but is the money worth it?

We found a small private condo on VRBO just minutes away from the beach in Taylor bay for under our 200 per night budget.

We plan to rent a car, so we can drive places if we need to. Thoughts?

A couple of things--

Provo is an expensive destination

February is peak season (most expensive time of year)

No condos at Taylor Bay?

Make sure vrbo includes a/c, maid service, etc, this can pass your budget

You'll be hard pressed to find anything at $200 range in Feb

Grace Bay is more than worth it

Can't find the worse hotel in VA Beach for the money, please don't expect too much

Food is VERY expensive on island. I would budget $200 daily for meals (including groceries)

You can bring in meats and dry goods and frozen goods to try to save

Beer for ex. is $70 a case, gas currently is 6.60 a gallon

If not rented, please check out:

Island Club Townhomes

Inn at Grace Bay

Grace Bay Suites (rooms with kitchen)

You must have a kitchen or food will be a fortune (catch 20-20, pay more for kitchen, even more if eating out)

Again, Grace Bay is worth the money. Maybe put on wedding registry?

With budget so tight, you might also want to call Val at Turksandcaicosreservations.com

Check in to the places that Blamona mentioned. We are always on a tight budget when we go. I would love to stay in one of the resorts right on the beach, but that really isn't in our budget. We still go and have a wonderful time. In addition to those mentioned above you may want to check out the Atrium Resort. It is really close to a nice beach and the resort looks lovely.

If doing a rental thru a private party, ask for as many details as possible, including things blamona mentioned. Is the condo actually part of a private residence, which means you certainly won't have the interaction you would get at a resort or actual condo/townhouse property like the ones mentioned above? Ask for an address and use Google maps to see the exact location of the property you are interested in renting. Do not pay any money in cash - use credit card or Paypal. We have rented thru VRBO several times and never had an issue but just this weekend there was a news story about a family who got scammed out of $775 for deposit on a private SC vacation rental they did thru Craigslist, which they apparently had used safely many times. If in doubt, stick to a reputable agency such as Turks and Caicos Reservations. You don't want to arrive and find that what you get is not what you expected, especially for a honeymoon.

You might want to try for one of the 12 Garden (lockout) rooms @ Coral Gardens which is a boutique Oceanfront property that sits right in front of Bight Reef(#1 snorkeling spot on the Island) on Grace Bay. King bed, bathroom with shower, mini-refriggy, caffeine creator, nuke micro unit, mini Garden view patio or balcony, money safety containment system, closet, TV to see images & hear sounds, A/C & fans, nice bath robes, daily room clean up, etc. Call now for February booking. Have a Great honeymoon and enjoy the Island. DR. JIM

Someone already mentioned the Atrium. I just stayed there in April and loved it. The cost is lower because it is not waterfront. However, It is a great place and their beach is only 5 to 10 minute walk. I think the beach is a little nicer than most of Grace Bay. One thing though....you need to rent a car. It is really not a big deal to do so. It is well worth it to see other parts of the island as well.

As others have said it'll be difficult to find something for 200 during peak season. Folks have mentioned Atruim as an option which is a good option, however being that far removed from the Grace Bay hub will force you to either take taxis everywhere, or rent a car. Same is true for Taylor Bay. Take a look at these:
