We arrived yesterday - early due to great tailwinds - 2 1/2 hours from JFK - so we were on the beach at Bay Bistro having lunch by noon. Condo is fine - not fantastic, like the previous ones we've stayed in at the Somerset - it's kind of small, but it's fine for the 4 of us - we don't spend much time here anyway.
Hung on the beach in the afternoon until about 5 p.m., and then returned to try for a great sunset, but it was cloudy, so all we saw was part of the bright red sun setting. Oh well, we'll try again.
Sure enough, we didn't have a reservation for last night and wanted to eat very casual, so we headed down to Hemingway's but, alas, there was an hour wait for a table, so we tried our luck at Mango Reef and - wa la - immediate table smack on the beach AND there was live music. Don't know what band this was, but they were really great! A guy and two girls, where they kind of alternated between the guy singing with the girls background and vice versa - did a lot of contemporary pop like Coldplay, Adele, Sheryl Crowe, etc. Really nice to end the day that way. The food was pretty darn good, too., I had shrimp kebob, hubby had lobster ravioli, which was presented open faced, son had filet mignon (he's going to turn into a filet mignon), daughter had what looked like terrific baby back ribs (REAL baby back ribs - small - just the way I love them) with a sweet/spicy BBQ sauce. All in, it was really a great way to start the trip.
Since I only had about 3 1/2 hours sleep the night before (always the case) AND I don't sleep on planes, was knocked out by 9:30 p.m.
Gorgeous day #2 here and we just finished breakfast and are ready to head out to the beach. Nothing planned for today - just relax - and we have a reservation at Bay Bistro for dinner tonight.
Gigi - now I know what you meant about the "stage tables" at BB - they did not do that when we were here last in 2009. As a matter of fact, they didn't have that patio in front of the porch either, so that is a very nice surprise.
Anyway, it is better than we remembered - and I forgot the SAND - oh, the SAND - it is like baby powder. I love the Caribbean and my favorite island has been Anguilla, but how could I have forgotten the SAND on GRACE BAY - like silk. OMG!!!!!
Happy as a clam..........................
