First time to TCI in late April |
|
Hi, coming to Provo for the first time after checking all the islands on Tripadvisor...TCI seems to be what we're looking for. I've been actively reading this forum for quite some time and most of my questions have already been answered but here are a couple... I: We have a 1.5 hour in Charlotte and want to know if enough time to stop at the duty free and still make our flight to Provo? 1A: What's the deal in Charlotte going from the domestic to international part of the airport...time...security etc.? 2: We booked our vacation through US AIR vacations and should we call RWI directly to verify resevations beforehand? 3: Best tour outfit for a simple beach or island cruise?
We reserved a vehicle from Grace Bay rentals and prompt return on our email. All good reports here on this rental agency. Always rented a car everywhere with the exception of Nigeria...that place is crazy!
We've decided to just take carry-ons to avoid lost luggage that I've heard about. Originally we were take some food but I would rather just pay a premium at the IGA and be done with it. Maybe a bottle of Jack form Charlotte. Thanks to all the posters and local experts...you have been a great help with restaurant reviews and local places to eat.

have a great trip... i can tell you that the duty free shop is all the way on the other side of the airport from where the usair gate is for departure to provo... i think the duty free shop was in area d and the gate was at b.... it's a long way but in 1.5 hours you'll have enough time...they have the moving sidewalks thru the airport and that helps...usually i check in while hubby makes the mad dash over to the duty free... you won't deal with customs until you are coming back in and that too is a trek back to the gates (at least for flights to boston)...after customs then security again before the gates....but when leaving charlotte we didn't have to do security again after going thru it in boston.... i remember finding a great airport map on line...try googling the airport and see if you can find a map... i'd double check your reservation with rwi...just to make sure...i doubt there will be an issue but can't hurt to double check... a bathing suit with a cover up skirt is all i ever need...good sandals/shoes...teva's or something solid....if you go to the caves on middle caicos or out with captain bill... have a great trip...

Charlotte is my favorite airport, Its very easy to navigate and figure out. As long as your flight is on time you should be ok to make it to the duty free. If you tend to burn, or its a little windy bring along a long sleeve shirt, and a hat. I usually wear a sorong over my bathing suit, it comes in handy at times. If you are diving for conch and don't like flippers like me, wear beach shoes. Its very shallow and can be rough on the feet. Have a great time

1. You should have enough time to duty-free shop. 1A. Charlotte has always been a very efficient airport to move through. This year, we're actually flying from Atlanta to Charlotte to Provo, just to avoid Miami (avoid it like the plague). 2. I thing calling RWI directly is an excellent idea. What can go wrong, will. 3. J&B Tours -- I assume you're not asking about "outfit" clothing. This will be the first time in many, many years that we will be checking a bag at the airport (new security regulations). I just can't see paying IGA prices for sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Hopefully, our checked bag will make it. US Air changed our flight, leaving us with only 40 minutes in Charlotte -- it's off to the races!

yes that's what i meant...what camke said... charlotte airport has always been very easy to go thru although spread out... it is usually our plan to go thru charlotte because of the ease of the airport there...but this year we got a great deal on a great flight on american thru jfk and direct home...i'm nervous because of doing something different when we usually have no problems going thru charlotte...we hope the 50 minute layover in jfk is enough time to switch planes...their map shows the 2 terminals right next to each other so fingers crossed it'll be as easy as charlotte... oh and i also second the water shoes idea...i hate flippers and use water shoes for all my snorkling adventures... inzane44, don't worry...you should have no problems in charlotte...

lol...leave it to me to think outfit meant clothing...lol... j&b tours is good....caicos dream tours even better... god i kill me...lol...maybe it's time for a vacation...

Hey, wait just a minute here. Please notice that I was the one who read it as tour company in the first place. Besides, I'm a GUY! It's Desi, as in "Babaloo." <LMAO>
|
yes desi... i think both camke and i made the mistake and you were correct...
|
Oops, didn't notice Camke's (...) in her post. I thought she had included me when saying, "see how girls think." Whew! Thank goodness my male ego didn't get too bruised...lol
|
You Guys are too funny...Well at least Insane 44 will be the best dress, maybe even the most fashionable, and well equipped snorkeler around now. Once they find the excursion company that suits them.
