The information with regard to traffic if staying in the Chaguaramas area is quite misleading. Normal time from Chag to Port of Spain is about 30 mins max.
However, whenever there is an event in that area, which is generally at nigihts, and for carnival, some weekends, then getting into Chaguaramas could take a couple hours.
Maybe you can help me...? I arrive now in POS (airport) at about 11am and fly out the next morning at 9:30. I would like to spend some time enjoying Trinidad the day I arrive and have heard I should plan to be in and careful after dark.............suggestions? I am usually unconcerned about safety but not stupid...even though I am from the Southern US I understand common sense shoud be ahead of friendliness! Is Chag a good choice for accomodations? My only real concern is arriving back to the airport in a timely manner??
For 1 day you need to stay in Port of Spain. Nothing to worry about once you take normal precaution.
