i have been to the grand cayman twice and was thinking about visiting little cayman in 2007. i was wondering, since i do not dive how is the snorkeling? when we went to grand cayman we stayed at aqua bay condos, very nice. but the best part was the snorkeling and feeding the turtles and snorkeling with them, they are amazing i love turtles. i am a turtle freak. i was just wondering if there are turtles at little cayman and will i see any when i snorkel?

thanks sws

you should never feed wildlife. its irresponsible of tour operators to take tourists to do so. its all about $ for them, not about wildlife conservation.

feeding wild marine life: a) gets them used to getting their food from humans so that when the humans stop feeding them they risk starving, b) they probably won't get proper nutrition relying on human and c) marine animals (like sharks and barracudas) should never be fed by humans because they associate humans w/ food so when they see human they approach it with their chops.

if you fed them at the turtle farm on GC, i hope you are aware that that 95% of the turtles there will end up on tourists' dinner plates.

If you are lucky you will may come across some. We have been to LC but go diving in GC all the time and it is not unusual to see one or two on a dive. I haven't seen them in sandy areas. They are usually along the walls or in the reefs (so atleast 30 to 40 ft down and deeper). The Caymans have very strict laws protecting their turtles so chances are when you see one, you are not looking at someone's next meal. However, it is best not to handle them as they can easily shut down and drown. Hope you are lucky!!!

Arby8 - wow what an attitude you've got!! Have you read nothing about the environment and wildlife? It is not a good thing to feed animals in the wild. Do people do it to see fish - yes. Is it a good thing - no.
