Family Friendly Affordable Restaurants on Grand Cayman

We are traveling this August to Grand Cayman and are looking for recommendations for affordable dining options. We are spliting our stay between the Westin and the Ritz and are looking for affordable options that are off property from each of these hotels. Is a car rental advised for the entire stay or would a few days be sufficient? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! Close to you is Eats Cafe- we have not been there since pre-Ivan but we found it very affordable for B, L & D. ChickenChicken! is a Cayman-style Boston Market and is very good.

We loved Coconut Joe's- excellent food and value. They have smiley-face shaped french fries for their kids meals. Everything we tried- wraps, salads- were great.

Also try Lone Star.

There are no "bargains" on Cayman but those places I listed are more affordable than others.

Unless you want to eat at Burger King every day, be prepared to spend at least 40-50 US on lunch for a family of four ( subway was $30 for three footlongs, chips & drinks) Chicken Chicken will be about 30-40 depending on what you order.

Hope this helps- we were there in May

other than Edoardo's, agree with previous "affordable" restaurants. Edouado's is a favorite of ours, but definitely not one of the lesser expensive spots. Also very good, and while not inexpensive, also great meals without as high a price is Casanova...another "never miss" during our trips to GC.

And yes, 2-3 days for a car rental ought work fine!

Cimboco is good too and moderately priced.

I'd also suggest you go to the Cayman Summer Splash page on www.caymanislands.ky

Several restaurants are offering "Kids Eat Free" this summer, and a whole bunch are offering a US$25 menu.

We just returned last a few days ago and out of the 8 nights we were there, we ate at Edoardo's 3 nights! The food was fantastic, and for our family of 4, we averaged around $175 for dinner which included a bottle of wine. Twice the kids ordered pizzas (which are amazing) and had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day (we were staying at the Meridian). It's just a short walk across the street from the Ritz.

Coconut Joe's is a little further south, so you would need a car/other transportation. The kids really enjoyed their meals, and it had a fun "islandy" atmosphere.

We LOVED our trip to Cayman and can't wait to travel there again!

Enjoy...
