We are planning to hit the Baths when we go to Tortola in Nov. We would like to explore and snorkle. I know this sounds like a dumb question, but Is it worth is to haul down fins and mask? I'm trying to get a picture in my mind and I'm wondering if you store your snorkle gear and walk through the rocks or whether you bring your gear with you as you explore and snorkle along the way? Does that make sense?

Bring your mask at least. There are always interesting things to be found amongst the rocks! There's not a lot of current there, on a calm day, so fins are optional. We were just there and left our gear on the beach while we hiked the trail. Then, we went up to the Top of The Baths Restaurant and swam in their freshwater pool and had lunch and a few drinks there (Ask for their gazpacho soup. It's not on the menu, but they always have it and it's awesome!). After that, we went back thru the trail and picked up our stuff. We had nothing expensive with us....only snorkel gear, sunscreen and a few towels, so we didn't fret about leaving it. It was all just where we left it when we reuturned.

If there are a lot of people there, hike over to the next bay (climb the rocks, swim, dinghy....its not far) which is Spring Bay and mostly hidden from view behind huge rocks. Its just as fantastic as the Baths but not usually anything like the no. of people there.
