Anegada from Little Dix Bay |
|
My husband and I will be spending a week at Little Dix Bay at the end of October. We would like to take a day trip to Anegada. Are there any ferry boats between the two?? Or are there scheduled tour operators for this type of trip? We plan to visit the baths, visit Anegada, and tour the island of Virgin Gorda. Any other day trip suggestions?? Thanks in advance

I know that the Bitter End Yacht Club, also on VG, has excursions to Anegada. I don't think you have to be a guest at the resort to participate. I believe there is also an excursion from Leverick Bay, also on VG. As far as I know, there is no ferry service to Anegada. Think you CAN take a seaplane there, though. Perhaps check with the consierge at LDB in advance and ask for advice. Otherwise, the 2 locations I've mentioned DO have websites. Anegada is unique among the VI as it is basically a coral atoll and not volcanic (read into that: it's flat with fabulously long beaches, not mountainous with pocket beaches like the rest.) It is absolutely worth the trip, so continue your search. I think you could easily spend a day in the north sound as well. There, you'll find Leverick Bay, the Bitter End, Biras Creek, Prickley Pair Island and Mosquito Island, and Saba Rock. There are tiny "ferries" which run between a few of these places, but to see it all, you'll need your own dinghy or Boston Whaler. Report as inappropriate | ||||||

Little Dix may have scheduled Anegada day trips, check with them. Smith's Ferry Service runs ferries from Tortola & Virgin Gorda to Anegada on Mon., Wed., & Fri. You need to reserve in advance for a Virgin Gorda pick up. The fare is $65.00pp round trip and they pick you up at the Spanishtown ferry dock at @ 7:20am and then leave Anegada at 5:00pm. This gives you a full day on Anegada. You might want to consider a day trip to Jost Van Dyke also. Double D Charters would be a good way to do a day trip to Jost, either sailing or on a powerboat.
