What are the must things to see in BVI |
|
Going to BVI JUNE/July sailing on a cat. What are the things not to be missed? Is Anegada a must see? |
|
Anegada- is one of those must see it at least once places...IMHO. It is very unique vs. the rest of the BVI as it is a coral atoll....very flat. Loblolly Bay is a beautiful beach with good snorkeling as long as the wave action isn't heavy. Other must sees (all pretty much BVI sailing staples): Foxys on JVD White Bay (and especially the Soggy Dollar Bar ) on JVD. We have always really enjoyed an afternoon/evening at Sopers Hole. The Bight at Norman Island North Sound - BEYC and Saba Rock...we usually moor two days there....lots to see and do. Fat Hog Bob's is a great place to eat (Tortola) Cooper Island Beach Club- very relaxed....love to sit at the bar and drink a couple dar and stormy's.

Anegada is a long sail from the other islands but is definitely worth the trip. The island is surrounded by reef, with many ship wrecks. The snorkeling right off the beach is great. Anegada lobster is delicious. The island is home to a colony of pink flamingos, some special iguanas, and about 200 human residents. You will moor near the Anegada Reef Motel, which has a nice bar frequented by boaters and a restaurant featuring the famous barbecued lobsters. There are other wonderful beach-side restaurants that you will find mentioned on TripAdvisor. You can take a taxi (van) from the dock to anywhere you want to go on the island.

I agree with iavagabond. I would also recommend visiting The Baths a area of huge granite boulders which is unique to the BVi and breath taking. But go early morning to avoid the crowds. Sandy cay in a small island with a nature path on it which is worth a visit. Sandy spit is also cool as its literally a lump of sandy with a few palm trees!! Anegada is amazing. Just miles of white sand with no one around. We always anchor at Pomato Point which is beautiful. We normally have the whole places to ourselves!! You will have a fantastic time.

Agree with KD, Pomato Point is beautiful. Since you are on a cat you should be able to do it.....too shallow for a monohull. There is a very nice little restaurant on the beach there. Very secluded and pretty.
