Bus tours ruin dinner

We have been dining in Grand Case for 20 years. This year was very different. Many of the restaurants have been sold and/or changed chefs....not for the better. Prices are up. They do not give $1= 1 euro for cash anymore. The exchange rate is about 1.4 The biggest problem is the large bus group tours. Westin Hotel is now housing very large tour groups that are taken by buses to Grand Case for group dinners. Each of the restaurants gets a group of 20-30 people. It completely ruins the dining atmosphere. The regular patrons are completely forgotten...and the food also suffers. The only places in Grand Case that were not affected were Spiga (always excellent), Calmos Cafe ( casual and fun...nice bar scene on the beach), and the Lolos( my favorite is Sky's the Limit) Marigot provides a better dining experience. Skip Grand Case.

This is an interesting bit of info. I haven't heard anyone else comment about this so I am wondering what is taking them so long to complain.

Finally. can you expand on the time of the day that this happened to you and did this happen more than on one day during the week? If it was early, maybe dining later might be a good recommendation?

Thanks for the head's up. Although it may be great for the restaurants because they do need a sufficient amount of guests in order to stay afloat, it's important to note the ones that are part of this deal, and maybe stay away from them on those days and times and possibly support another that may need the boost. That way, it's a win-win situation for all the restaurants.

This happened on several evenings. Large groups, very loud, and rude. Le Taste Vin, which we used to love, asked us to change a reservation to a different evening because the group on our requested evening was very big. They asked us to come on another night when they had a smaller group. Needless to say, we skipped dining there and chose restaurants in Marigot Marina and Calmos Cafe....always fun!
