Atrium Resort??? Any advice?

Hi there - Just got a call from my timeshare co that they found a place for us for a week in July - the Atrium Resort - I have 24 hours to decide if I want it - so I'm asking for all of your expert opinions - this board is always so helpful to me -

Any advice would be greatly appreciated......

We're going July 6-13th... they found us a studio with a kitchen.... it's just two of us....

Thanks so much

Helene

Hi Helene,

Wer'e going to St. Maarten for the 1st time next month & will be staying at the Atrium.

You wil find very few negative reviews of this resort.

Check out www.festivaresorts.com/mc_ixp.php for a tour of the resort( shows you a studio with kitchen).

Hi again,

We are flying out of Buffalo( much, much cheaper than flying out of Toronto).

Here's another website to check out:

caribbeanmag.com/search/…326.html......for a tour of the resort & beach.

Hi,,,, thanks again.. i checked that website, read the one opinion and it looks good.. I like the fact that it's low key and not a huge resort...

Thanks again..

If you find anything else out, keep me posted.

Have fun

Helene,

Thought you should know ...there is a gov't tax at the Atrium of $50 per unit/wk & $3 utility charge per person a day & environmental fee of $1.50 per day per person.

There is also some construction going on next to Atrium and I have been advised by other posters that it won't have much affect on us.

Hi Rick

Thanks for the info....

What is the beach at the ATrium supposed to be like? and... are you renting a car for the week? I read that renting a car is strongly suggested -what are your plans?

What are your accomodations? studio? one bdrm?

Thanks ..

Talk to you later.

Hi Helene,

I understand the beach to be ok( this is my 1st trip to SXM).For more photos of the resort check out the Buccaneer Beach Bar website) located right in front of the Atrium.Wer'e going to be with another couple & have a 1BR( tried to get a 2 BR).Think we'll just lounge around the resort, Simpson Bay area 1st few days to relax.Definitely want to tour the island & will rent a car for a couple of days.

We stay at the Atrium twice a year and LOVE it! We have stayed in a one bedroom and a studio and both are very nice and include full kitchen facilities. The resort is clean, comfortable with a wonderful staff. The beach is not the best, but there are 36 others to chose from. It's fine for a day lounging around if you want. The best thing about the resort is the Location. In the heart of Simpson Bay and walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars and a casino or two.
