RI is right in the middle of Maho.

La Plage is on the ocean side of the street, La Terasse, across the street.

Yes the RI is within walking distance to Maho nightlife. you can dine at Cherri's Cafe which is very casual with entertainment. Also the casino and disco is within steps of both. Plenty of shopping at night if your are an all day/night shopper like myself. I can give you the name of my favorite saleman if your interested. If you love icecream drop by Hagen Daz . There is a difference between LP and the LT however we love them both. LT is very new and is not on the beach although the beach is directly across the street and does not pose a problem to get there. We just love the pool at the LT very quite and peaceful especially at night. The rooms are slightly smaller at the LT however not to the point where it really makes a difference. One more thing the LT does not have a oven. We love them both.
