My wife and I are returning to Great Bay on March 21-28. Haven't been there since 2002 and I am wondering if anyone has been there since the remododeling job. Have any advice for me as our stay is concerned. Still beer in a bottle\can? Restaurant upgade pointers etc.

Upgrades worth the wait? We enjoyed it in 2002 and knew what we were getting, now its a surprise and I am curious.

We are going to Great Bay Hotel March 28th...we are hoping it will be ready!!

Our travel agent is down there now this week to check it out...hope to know more by next week this time.....if it's not ready...the word is ...we will be moved to another resort.

Hi to everyone. I have heard that they are having a few little problems that you get when you first open a hotel. I think by the end of March everything will be amazing. I leave this weekend and will do my best to report when I get back. Regardless the weather will be nice.

Just came back from St. Maarten on Feb 15th. Great Bay opened 2 floors on Feb 13th... and unfortunately we did not get to stay there as they weren't ready by Feb 1st. They are still under construction and the airlines knew that but only phoned us Jan. 31st to tell us. We were shuffled to Le Meridian (boring and cold food) to Sonesta MAHO (great food and a bit of entertainment, but no beach)

Whatever you do.. make sure you can get a room by that date.

I wouldn't recommend Le Meridian. The Dutch side of the island is fabulous

Maho resort is nice but it is close to the Airport and can be noisy, but it is also entertaining to watch the planes.

Great Bay has a great beach, but I didn't go inside the hotel... hopefully they will open more than 2 floors of rooms.

CHECK WITH YOUR TRAVEL rep.... St. Maarten does not have the same safety standards that Canada or the US has so you should be aware that you could be walking into continued renovations!

Hi, I just returned from St. Maarten on Feb 15th..yes The Great Bay is opened. ..but..when we left only the top 2 floors.

It is still under renovations and construction is all around it. But I wouldn't let it ruin your vacation.

They have a fantastic beach and they are near Phillipsburg so there will be plenty to do.

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food or entertainment.

We ended up being moved to 2 different hotels while we were there because Great Bay wasn't open... and we were quite disappointed with LE MERIDIAN but pleased with the MAHO.

Explore the island by bus or rental car and have a great time.

hi Golf Guy, when you are on traveltalkonline you have to go through several pages and you will see that it says Great Bay. There are about 26 reports on this property, however some are also discussing the Maho.

Thats what I heard too, we are going there easter weekend and so far the reviews are scaring me....have they completed the rooms and all the renovations??

It's golfguy..I still don't have the offical word on Great Bay Hotel...we are heading there on Easter Weekend..I'm hope to hear from our agent tomorrow or Thursday.
