All-Inclusive Option at Maho Bay Beach Resort? |
|
My wife and I have decided on staying at the Maho Beach Resort for our vacation to St. Maarten in late April '05. Is it worth getting the all-inclusive option? It probably makes overall expenses cheaper but we also want to try the great restaurants in Grand Case/Marigot and tour the island a couple of days too. Any reviews/suggestions? Thanks! The food and restaurants are what sets apart St. Maarten from other islands. I really think you'd be missing out if you choose an all-inclusive there. Last time I was there, we had just breakfast included -- that was perfect. Report as inappropriate

how was the hotel looking into vacationing therehow about the beach? is there ca concern beacause the airport is near by? your input would be appreciatethanks Report as inappropriate

The hotel is pretty nice -- I've used the spa and gym there. I am not sure about the beach because I've never actually stayed there. There are several nice beaches in the immediate area -- Mullet Bay is only a 10-15 minute walk and one of my all time favorite beaches ever. The airport shouldn't be a problem. I've stayed at the Caravanserai a number of times and it is literally right next to the airport. Planes stop flying in before its too late so they don't keep you up. During the day you'll be out and about, so it shouldn't matter. Report as inappropriate

although i havent been there but just booked ai option for Maho myself (Mar. /05) let me put my 2 cents in. It was only $100 per day more for 2 people which is 50 bucks each. You can't mess up breakfast and if you are drinkers (which we are) there's your 100$ per day. Throw in a few lunches and dinner only at the best restaurant(s) and its worth it even if you eat out a few nights. tips and gratuities are also included (whatever that means) as is complementary admission to Club Q and casino show. Besides, I hear they really gouge the non ai people and many end up switching over. example breakfast = $40, 2 daquiris by pool = $24, so for another 36 bucks you get unlimited drinks, lunch and dinner. Again it depends on the individual, if you dont drink, dont eat breakfast (or are content with a roll and cup of coffee), skip lunch and plan on renting a car and spending days else where, it probably wont be worth it. also, as for HMP's post - we asked; they dont do just breakfast or just alcohol and you cant do it for some days and not others, its an all or nothing kind of thing. Report as inappropriate

I agree with cmauro-we were in St. Maarten last year and found the food and drinks were very expensive. I think the all inclusive will pay for itself even if you go out to dinner. Report as inappropriate

I agree with with "CMAURO"... I will be there for almost 3 weeks, I think with the AI plan you can't go wrong. I'm a big eater and drinker. I will always have breakfast at the hotel, lunch and dinner will be a mixed. Report as inappropriate
