St. Martin La Samanna worth $300 a night |
|
I just won a open ended package....# of nights to be determined for La Samanna. We will end up paying close to $300 a night...is it owrth it? The thing I see on reviews is "is it worth the almost $1000 a night price?" well is it for $300? I can decide how many nights I want and am trying to figure that out. Any opions would be great. Also, we were looking into spending a few nights in Anguilla? If we went for 7-8 nights would that be enough or would we feel like we were running around too much. My husband is hoping to gamble a bit and hit some of the beaches and restaurants...any thoughts? Also, since we are not locked into a number of nights should we look at any other hotels instead of La Samanna? Please help! Thanks! |

La Sammana is supposed to be one of the most exclusive resorts on the island (if not the most)...you didn't mention if it was in season or not...Personally $1000 to stay anywhere is St. Maarten is a lot....$300 for the most exclusive resort seems ok if it is in season ( Dec 15- April 15), actually you will not want to be tied to the resort..you should get a car to experience all St. Maarten has to offer, especially the many beaches...and there are always more reasonable places to stay than LaSammana....Good Luck !!

300$ per night is a good deal for La Samanna, I would definitely do it. 7-8 nights is plenty time to see and do on SXM. As for Anguilla, you can get the full experience in 1-2 nights. Check out Cap Jaluca or Cuisinart. Anguilla is small enough so that even if you just go for the day, you can see the whole island.

I have been thinking about a trip splitting about a week between these two islands, so I think 7-8 nights total is enough time. It is all about personal preferences, but I'm a beach person, so I would spend more time on Anguilla (which has better beaches) and less on St. Martin. Also, for me Anguilla has the advantage of being quieter (going to the beach and going out to eat are the primary activities) and safer, but for others, the nightlife, gambling, and variety of things to do on St. Martin are more appealing. The trip between the two islands is relatively quick and easy via ferry, so I don't think it is much more difficult to go to Anguilla for a few days than it is to switch hotels on St. Martin.

Thanks everyone for the info. My husband and I are thinking of going for La Samanna for all our time on St. Martin. I am just getting nervous reading the reviews that it might be too much of a scene for him....I like really nice places but he is more into laid back off beat spots. Does the resort have a laid back feel to it? Also, how is the location? We were thinking that if we don't spend all our time there Grand Case Beach Club would be a good second choice. How long of a drive to the restaurants in Grand Case? We are planning on renting a car. Any other tips would be great.

La Samanma is very laid back and luxurious.. There is nothing near it. and if you want more action, the night life is only a 10 minute drive away..

I agree with the above posts, worth it for $300
