has anyone stayed at la siesta on simpson bay? how is the beach & neighborhood? too close to the airport? i am used to staying at Royal Palm so the planes are not new to me but I don't want the noise to be worse than that!

You may want to check out my prior post regarding La Siesta Residence...it is so new that I can't find any reviews! We are booked there in Bella Mare villa for a week in June, but have never been either. If you get any information or decide to stay there, please let me know how it is!

I just returned from staying at Sea Place Villa. The owner has two units: 1-BR and a 2-BR. My friends and I stayed in the 2-BR unit. It was really nice. The 2-BR unit (Sea Place) is on the 2nd floor in the smaller "B" building. The terrace overlooks the beach and you can hear the wave crashing all day and night. The kitchen had all the gadgets you could use for a comfortable stay. We made good use of the blender for iced smoothies on the terrace. The washer/dryer was great for drying out bathing suits. The Master BR sits on the beach side and the sliding doors opening all the way on the terrace. It was mosquito time and so all the doors remained closed. However, the teak windows all have screens so you could open them all up and get a nice cross breeze. The bathrooms aren't large, but they are pretty. The rain showerhead was a nice touch. And the maid service was kept a nice supply of clean towels going. FYI - the 1-BR unit (Sea Belle) is in the larger "A" building in front of the pool. You have to walk over to the other building from the 2-BR unit to sit by the pool. The 2-BR has chairs and floats locked up on the beach. Easy to use. The A/C worked really well, as did all the electronics. There were intermittent blackouts on the island, so we'd lose internet or Vonage service. But it was always fixed /restored quickly. We had a couple of issues with the computer, but the owner remedied the problem immediately. It was great. I would recommend this property to all those who want a quiet vacation with a non-resort feel. It's close to everything in Simpson Bay, including the airport. As for airport noise -- it did get a little noisy at around 3:30-4:30pm, but I was out in the bay snorkeling so it didn't really matter that much to me. It was cool seeing the Air France plane take off from my float 40 feet away from shore. I'd rate this property an A+++ (for me and my two guests). We really enjoyed our stay and the owner was very easy to work with. Can't wait until next year.
