Trying to make a honeymoon decision |
|
We are trying to decide between St Lucia, Barbados or St Vincent area. We are looking for a cottage type room and staying away from the typical hotel room and large chains. Any help is greatly appreciated! We are currently looking at Stonefield Estates, Ti Kaye and Windjammer Landing in St Lucia. Also noticed The Cotton House in Mustique and Young Island Resort off of St Vincent. Thanks. |

I have stayed at Ti Kaye, Stonefield and Windjammer. Our favorite is Windjammer because it has lots of amenities, is on the beach and has 5 restaurants. You can remain as anonymous as you like or meet others. It's up to you. They also offer catamarans for sailing and we utilize them daily. As it is very steep there they provide shuttles to take you up and down the hills from your villa. The villas are spacious, clean and offer amazing views. At Stonefield the views of the Pitons are stunning, it has its own restaurant and you can hire your own cook for your stay if you wish and get a cottage with a kitchen (I highly recommend Jacaranda). The cottages are rustic with an outside garden shower. You need to take a shuttle to get to the beach and be on their schedule or rent a car or hire a a taxi. It is within walking distance of Soufriere down a steep hill. If you stay here go to La Haut for dinner one evening. Ti Kaye is the most remote of the 3. It has an on-site restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner menu is limited and changes daily. Usually 3 choices, sometimes 4. There is a beach that is down 166 stairs and there is a restaurant down there so you don't need to hike back up for lunch. The cottages are similar to Stonefield without as magnificent a view although you see lots of open sea from Ti Kaye. Make a trip to Rainforest Hideway for dinner one night if you stay here. Hope this helps in your decision process.

I would say that Barbados is the most touristy and Americanized, St Lucia is a major honeymoon/wedding/tourist destination. St Vincent would be the most laid back of your 3 choices and probably the nicest beaches. Without knowing what you have in mind as far as "adventure" (other than the obvious honeymooner stuff) it is hard to make suggestions. Do you want total seclusion with beaches and snorkeling, exploring with hiking rain forests, different restaurants daily........... I would check out Grenada, BVI's, Turks & Caicos, Anguilla.....
