We have been told by our Virgin rep that Club St Lucia has now been closed. This is because The Almond Group has purchased the complex and is giving it a makeover in time for the cricket world cup..

Guests are being offered, Almond Morgan Bay, Rendevouz or Coconut Bay as alternatives..

It was slated for a 28th closure, but was brought forward... according to the guest services supervisor..

here's what Virgin have said about the closure of Club St Lucia:

" the closure of Club StLucia was a completely unforeseen event, and as a result we are obliged to provide customers booked there with accommodation of an equivalent or better standard as noted in our booking conditions. Furthermore, as the Club St Lucia was actually purchased by the Almond Group, they automatically offered AlmondMorganBayto us as an alternative accommodation for our customers as it is now under the same ownership and would make the administration of the change easier."

I guess, if AMB closed we'd expect to be offered similar/better accommodation.

I wanted to let you all know what happened to our group who had a reservation with Club St. Lucia since March of this year. Our group leader was told that it was sold and would close on the date mentioned, but would re-open on Jan 1 so our reservations would note be affected!! WRONG!!

The Almond Group has decided that it will NOT honor any reservation from Club St. Lucia after the date it was sold!! That left our group pretty much on our own. Something about Club St. Lucia not putting in their contract about taking care of all their guests after the sale. In my opinion, not good PR on the Almond Group!!! They took advantage of an oversite on Club St. Lucia.

The people left at Club St. Lucia stepped in and found another all inclusive resort for our group on their own! Of course the new club will not honor Club St. Lucia's price so we will have to pay a higher rate then we had.

Overall, I am not happy about how any of this was handled, but since our non-refundable airfare was already purchased we have to "bite the bullet" so to speak and pay the extra.

I hope everyone else who was booked with Club St. Lucia made out fine with their accomodations! If not, good luck!!

Southjerseygirl

Can you please advise who you made your booking with? Was it direct with the hotel or via a TA?

Thanks

Our group ended up getting accomodations at Rex Papillon. I don't know anything about this resort and it's been hard trying to find out anything via the internet. They don't have the best of websites!

We booked directly with Club St. Lucia, we were not with any travel agency. We are dealing directly with Rex Papillon also. We've done this everytime we've stayed at CSL and never had any problems. I now see the advantage of having a TA!!

All in all am still looking forward to going. I just hope we are treated fairly!

I spoke to a guy at AMB that had his holiday cancelled within days of leaving the uk. He booked directly with CSL as well. He did get a full refund and managed to get into AMB in the 3 days before the flight..
