Dinner for 2 $80 - $100 US per couple.

View is the best on the island.

We thought the food was quite bad compared to other restaurants on the island. However, I think we had a somewhat isolated experience most people seem to have good food here.

Food is good, but expensive, the service was very slow, even by St. Lucia standards, but the view was worth it all, get there by 5:30 for sunset, Spectacular!

The food was amazing - best food on the island, as well as the best views. We ate at several other resorts on the island as well as at a few restaurants. The food was wonderful! Note that for the $80-100 (US) per couple, that includes 5 courses.

We went to Dasheen on our honeymoon from TiKaye (90$ US taxi ride!) only to find out that the "amazing sunset" was actually kind of disappointing as the sun sets BEHIND the Pitons and you don't get that amazing wash of color etc. The mosquitos were horrible (I never got eaten anywhere else) and the service was abominable. They forgot my wine, served the wrong kind the second time and our food was late/cold and really not that good. I was overall incredibly disappointed and would not recommend this place. It is nice for the view during the day, say for cocktails or something, maybe lunch, but VERY expensive for not that good of food. Go to the restaurant at TiKaye if you want really good food.

Just skip it.

As you see, unfortunately with the way reviews go for ANY restuarant/resort in the Caribbean you will get your fabulous and not so fabulous ratings about the food and service.

I would say that dining at Ladera is about the EXPERIENCE, one that quite possibly, may pleasantly surprise you with a great meal. If the cost is going to be an overwhelming burden for you, this in itself can spoil the experience if you set your mind in this mode. I don't think it's a good idea for anyone to go over a cost comfort point, if you are the type to let a less then stellar experience get you down.

Ladera's location between the Pitons is breathtaking. One that is only added to with a nice relaxing UN-rushed romantic candle lite meal. Although I never felt the service at Ladera, slow at all. We were thrilled with the fact that we were never hurried to finish up like there were other guests waiting in the wings for your seat. It's your table for the evening! You are left to enjoy each and every moment of the experience.

Sun sets in St.Lucia between 5:30 and 6:30 year round. You may want to check out sun set times for the time you are in St.Lucia.

In JANUARY the Sun sets pretty much directly between the Pitons for that prefect sunset view! So give or take the exact positioning of the sun setting, will vary throughout the year. Yes, this time of year it begins to set behind the Petit Piton, though, we felt still offered a mystical and magical sight to see.

Another good idea if planning on venturing to Ladera for the evening, would be to checkout the entertainment schedule for the week. Having the added ambiance of a steel pan band, etc., as the background, will add two fold to the experience.

They have a sample menu on the Ladera web site that gives the prices of menu items.

If your budget will allow, I suggest making a day of visiting this part of the island. Maybe take a water taxi down the West coast, with a quick tour and or a few stops along the way. Marigot Bay, a stop at Anse Chastenet, to check out this exotic dark sand beach, maybe some snorkeling, then spend sometime on the Jalousie Plantation beach STUNNING must see location between the Pitons(snorkeling here also in the marine reserve), take a dip in the thermal waterfall mineral bath outside the entrance to the Jalousie (Piton Falls), then end your day with a relaxing sunset dinner at Ladera, with a land taxi back!

Good Luck and have a wonderful time in St.Lucia!!!
