We had 2 frogs in our room at Ti Kaye. We didn't see any when we were at sandals in the north.

You could hear them in the jungle at night. but they weren't a "problem" not enough of them to be anoying.

Complaints about frogs? What few you will see are small. I have two which live in and around my kitchen sink and they are all of half an inch long. Hardly man-eaters and I like them a lot. We are always saving them from falling in the washing up.You will certainly hear them cheeping away, sounding like little birds, outside after dark. You may see the Cane Toad, an ugly big thing about 4-5 inches long but they arent usually seen unless you are out in the bush in damp areas. They also dont attack people. You can pick them up, turn them upside down and stroke their bellies and that hypnotises them. Weird.

However if you do that watch out for a white liquid which oozes out from two glands on their back, that's poisonous. But they only do that when they are really upset or had a hard day at the office.

We went searching for the little frogs..but try as we might. we never managed to find one. They start "singing" at sunset and that is what we fell asleep to every night. It was like a St Lucia lullaby. Have a great time and don't stress about critters..we really didn't see much wildlife at all!

You read complaints!! Oh my God there are tiny!! We stayed at the Windjammer and saw 1 tiny tiny frog on our balcony. As soon as it saw us it was gone in a flash. You will here them guaranteed, chirping away at night. But we actually considered ourselves very lucky to have seen one at all. All you will definately see are tiny lizards and again they run when they see you, soo timid. Ants are everywhere. I really wouldn't give it another thought. Wish I was you though going back to the Windjammer, it was fab.

I am reading this happy that I did not run across any of the cane toads that JohnK refers to. Spending most of our time in the Rodney Bay area I don't recall seeing any frogs at all. The more tropical area we visited down near the Pitons definitely, by nature of rainforests, had more "critters". I think St Lucia is a terrific spot to visit and hope you don't miss it!

Regarding your frog

Yes there is a lot of frogs on the island but they will only come out in the evening and they just sit on the grass doing nothing, So if you don’t have any plans rolling around on the grass at night you should be more than safe.

So don’t worry be happy.

Mark

We tried and tried to spot a frog but had no luck! I really don't think it will be a problem at all - you just don't tend to see them.

Ah, Jig, a person after my own heart...sounds as if you've been to Dominica and tried their "Mountain Chicken" -a very tasty frog indeed!
