 Anse Chastanet vs Ti Kaye

Hi!

Any opinions on this? I am planning an anniversary trip in June. Both properties look amazing. I would try to get a Beachside Deluxe room at Anse, or an Ocean view w/plunge pool at TiKaye..if they are available. We love snorkeling and hiking... is the lack of AC at Anse Chastanet a problem in June? Are both locations good for nice beaches and getting around to explore other parts of the island?

Thanks in advance. We have been to St. Lucia once before..quite a while ago, and at the time we stayed way up in the Northern part of the island. Can't wait to return! :)

We just returned from a 2 week trip to the island and stayed in a private rented villa just above the Ladera resort. The villa which sleeps 8 was outstanding with the most amazing views. We drove up and down the coast road to the North on 4 occassions which took 1 1/2 hour and saw both places. Anse Chastenet is close to Souffriere and the Pitons with lots of hiking trails, mountain biking and good snorkeling. Ti Kaye is close to Anse le Raye which really is in the middle of nowhere. I hate to say we did not find the town particularly welcoming. The hiking and snorkeling at Anse Chastenet is superb. There is also mountain biking. I certainly would recommend Anse Chastenet.

Hi seekinsun,

I spent my honeymoon last year at Ti Kaye and Ladera. And while we were at Ladera we had the opportunity to visit Anse Chastanet's beach. Both are great beaches, both have clear water and fantastic snorkeling! I don't think you could go wrong with either personally, have you checked their availability? Both are popular resorts that tend to book up a good bit in advance.

This is just me, but I was GLAD to have the A/C at Ti Kaye last June, it was HOT and I'm from Florida originally! At Ladera it wasn't a problem, because it was so high up and built upon a ridge that we got a fantastic cross breeze. Some of the rooms at Anse Chastanet are higher up than other and will get a better cross breeze than others. This is just me, but I won't return to St. Lucia and stay at a resort on the beach without A/C. The beach was just several degrees warmer than it was up in the Pitons where Ladera was. Good Luck!

I can only speak for Anse Chastenet -- never been to Ti Kaye, although I've heard it's great. If you like snorkeling, go to Anse Chastenet. You'll think you've died and gone to snokel heaven! Beachside rooms are good, but in June you might be better off up the hill where the winds would keep you cooler.

We're already planning a return trip to Anse Chastenet in '08 for our 15th anniversary.

Thanks for everyone's input. I am a little worried about the weather being so hot in June.. the last time we visited St. Lucia, it was during the winter. I have been to St. Thomas, St. John and Antigua in June and July, and thought the weather was actually nicer (and cooler) than in hot sticky New York! :) Do you think it is much different in St. Lucia?

Also, has anyone stayed at the Stonefield estates?

Thanks everyone!

Hello - we stayed at Anse Chastanet last October and loved it. It was very humid when we were there, but we had a room up on the hill, which I think made it significantly cooler because of the breezes. If you go to Anse Chastanet, you may want to check into a hillside room. As far as the beaches go, I thought the one at Anse Chastanet was awesome - we spent a majority of our time there! There's so much to do and the snorkeling is awesome. I never went to the beach at Ti Kaye, but I've seen people complain about it on this board because it gets crowded. I think it was boats from other resorts come and anchor in their cove. Hope this is helpful - have fun on your trip, wherever you go!

for St. Lucia

Hi

I have been out to St Lucia in January, May and June. June is not much hotter than January, but it is more humid so you feel the heat much more.

The comments about the boats at Anse Cochon, where Ti Kaye is located, are appropriate but they do not spend the whole day there and tend to stay in one half of the bay area. The Jolly Roger boat does drop anchor at the other side of the bay from the boats and spends about 40 minutes there with people snorkelling, swinging off ropes etc. It is quite entertaining, particularly when they go away again and all is quiet. It didn't bother us at all.

Anse Chastanet is also lovely but, currently, has no swimming pool. Personally I would miss this. Both resorst have very good dive centres. Anse Chastnet is visited by other resort boats and has a large scuba operation.

You should be happy with either choice. Enjoy!
