My fiance and I will be married on July 3 this year. We're sort of young (25 & 28) and enjoy a reasonable amount of partying. We've been to Key West, Cancun and now are looking at St. Lucia for our honeymoon. We love the idea that many of the resorts feature very private & very romantic rooms with garden showers and plunge pools, but we're concerned that we may get bored of 10 days there. Any similar experiences? I've heared it's not much of a night life except for Fridays. We considered 5 days at either Ladera or Stonefield Villas and then 5 at Sandals. We hoped that would be romantic and very relaxing for the first 5 days, but then slightly upbeat but still romantic for the last 5 days. Any thoughts? Also, we're torn between St Lucia and Cabo. Are we overlooking any other locations that offer both nightlife and exclusive relaxation by day?

Interesting. My fiance and I are struggling with something similiar..1/2 romance and seclusion and 1/2 party and plenty to do. Even more interesting is we live nearby. Although here (i.e. the block, Granby etc.) isn't like NYC, we do alright, and it would be nice to have something like that on an island. Cancun is fairly similiar, but as far as the more "upscale" islands, I'm not exactly sure. We are booked for Sandals in St. Lucia. Although it seems ideal for "fun,(watersports)" and scenery, I'm not hearing that it has much nightlife going on whether it be dancing or otherwise nor privacy in my opinion due to how packed they get. I've done extensive research on this, but considering I have not personally been, I obviously cannot say for sure. Barbados seems like it has a mix of both. Jamaica seems almost too popular. From my understanding, the only other good nightlife places in the Caribbean would be Aruba and Puerto Rico, but the negative for me is that they both are islands with casinos and that's not really the style I want to go with on my honeymoon.

Specifically, in terms of Ladera, it looks beautiful, but if your fiance is like me and is freaked out by the possibility of bugs, birds, and other creatures coming in (due to 4th wall missing) I'm not sure she'd find it romantic for long. Neither Ladera nor Stonefield has ac if that's an issue for you. I am seeing that Ti Kaye is a pretty popular choice for romance and privacy, but not nightlife. St. Lucia doesn't seem in general to be good for nightlife. Well, enough said for now. We're in a similiar both, so perhaps we'll keep in touch if we learn of anything.

Carameliz....

Awesome. an HR native! When are you both going to St Lucia? We'll be there July 5.

Since this post we booked the following (it's a lot of moving, but we'll be there for a long time):

4 days at stonefield

3 days at tikaye

5 days at Oasis Marigot - Emerald Hill House (during which we'll have 2 days on a sailboat).

12 whole days!

But, I'm a little concerned now about the ac. I didn't realize that. I guess we'll have to drink ourselves to sleep. :-)

What a small world! My husband and I live in Newport News. We're going to Sandals Grande in June! I've heard Sandals offers some entertainment at night, but I'm not sure what to expect. It hasn't always gotten great reviews. I'm not too worried about not having a nightlife though. It's our honeymoon and I'd much rather take a walk on the beach, or spend some quality time in our room than go out partying. :o) I can do that at home anytime! I've decided not to have many expectations and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens and either way......I'll be in St. Lucia!!!!

Jason,

We plan to go to St. Lucia in October. Who did you book through? I tried to get my agent to split our trip between Sandals & Ty Kaye and she said the tour company they go through would not give us the same air rate and that our air would go up to 1100 a piece, which obviously we aren't going to go for. Let me know. Thanks.

I booked it all myself. Originally we went through an agent for the Sandals thing, but after I did a little match I figured we could stay twice as long if we picked other resorts. Have you already booked everything?

On another note, in what part of HR do you live - did you grow up here - local highschool? What a small world.

I am 27 me and my new wife are "partiers" to we spend many weekends at the bars ..., and have been on cruises and gone to cancoon for the night life. We were in St Lucia for 2 weeks and were not a bit bored. No tv, no clubs, great time. We met some cool couples, enjoyed hanging out with just us. Botom line is you don't have to have "night life" to have fun at night.

Also we left the french doors to our Ti Kaye cottage open most of the time. We had lizards 7 frogs in the room, but it just added to the experiense, they didn't get on us in bed or anything.

If you want a night out, go to Rodney Bay where there are plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs. Bars and clubs get very busy at the weekend with locals and some visitors - I went out twice in RB and had a great time, everyone is very friendly. If you want nightlife outside of the hotel you stay in, it is not hard to find - obviously you must take care as you must in any city, Im from London so am used to fairly busy nightlife and did not feel uncomfortable. Highly recommend Jump up on fri night but Im sure you've read all about that.

Hope you all have a great time
