Windjammer questions |
|
We are leaving in 3 weeks for our honeymoon at the windjammer and had some questions: -What is the dress code at the various restaurants? -Has anyone taken the helicopter from the main airport to the one closest to the resort? -What form of currency is best (US, Credit)? -Rent a car or just take tours? -What sights are a must do? Thanks to all Report as inappropriate |

2dred: For dinner the Dragon Fly and Papa Dons is casual elegant. Breakfast and lunch is casual. I think you have to make reservations prior to arrival. I think your bags will follow yopu to the resort after your flight. Suggest bringing cash. We brought about $700US in various demoninations and paid for the big items with a credit card. Bring plenty of singles for tips. Tours are subjective to what you may personally like. I would recommend the Sunset Cruise. Report as inappropriate

2dred- Resort casual is fine. Although my husband packed pants for evening time, it was too hot to wear them. He'd wear his kacki Bermuda shorts w/ a sports short and sandals to dinner which fit right in. We rarely saw anyone in pants although not once did we go to the Dragonfly for dinner which may have been more formal. Keep in mind, all the restaurants are exposed to the outdoors in an open-air setting so no need to get too decked out. I wore skirts and once a nice pair of shorts to dinner. It's not TOO dressy although if you felt in the mood go for it!! One female note of advice: no need to pack your heels unless they are those cute trendy kitten heels. I packed a pair and ended up walking barefoot up and down the hill!! The heels got a little destroyed, too!! I'd definitely suggest a nice rugged, sporty sandal for tours. I had these beach type thongs and one snapped, thankfully toward the end of the tour. Everything runs on tab at the Windjammer (even at the onsite market) unless you'd rather pay cash so you will have no reason to have cash there unless you want to throw a shuttle driver a tip. We never used the shuttles so not sure what the protocal is there. Of course if you leave the resort you'll need cash if you should need a taxi. Cash is also needed for tips or if you should shop at the Market. US currency is widely accepted so EC or US if fine. It can get a bit confusing w/ EC pricing but you can print this out and take w/ you to get the hang of: http://oanda.com/convert/cheatsheet In terms of car rental, it all depends on how much of an adventurer you both are. Personally, we felt content not driving. First you have to drive on the left and the roads seemed awfully confusing. I almost wonder if you'd be better off renting a taxi for a day to chauffeur you around although so many post here saying they get rentals.. Tours wise, definitely do the Jammers Day Sail. My review gets into it alot more so I wont repeat. (see the new review at Windjammer from Northern, NJ. That's me) have a great time, birdofparadise Report as inappropriate
