Windjammer Landing Beach Renovation |
|
Can anyone tell me how extensive the work being performed there is? What are the hours they work? Is it noticeable when you are on the beach? Is it very noisy? Thanks... Report as inappropriate |

We just got back from the Windjammer (May 21-28). One of the reviews had mentioned the destructive, loud renovation. Funny, as when we were there it was a total calm. I don't even know where they had performed work-? It was peaceful and complete serenity.... Make sure to grab a chair w/ a flag for flagging down the waiters for your favorite cocktail or local Piton beer (yummmmmm) Report as inappropriate

Hi, heading out to Windjammer on 11th June so thanks for the message regarding the beach, we had friends who went out there in early April and they said it was fairly noisy. I will write a report when I get back. This will be my 14th visit! Babs from UK Report as inappropriate

Babs: Is this your 14th visit to the Windjammer? We will be coming at the end of June. The place looks awesome but suddenly my wife is wondering about the bugs getting into the open air room. I've seen pictures of the bathrooms and there is no roof. Kind of cool but if you turn on the light say at 11pm to brush your teeth - do you get attacked by the "light bugs"? How do you (and others who have been to the WJ) deal with the open air rooms and the bugs? Thanks. Report as inappropriate

To rtsunset. I only stayed in the open air villas for the first few years. After that we purchased time at one of the new 1-bedroom units that have sealed windows rather than bars and a plunge pool on the balcony. Now we get large black bees flying past in the daytime occassionally! Generally we did not get large flying insects at night in the rooms. You do get some mosquitos in the bathrooms as these have bars on the windows rather than glass. The main problem I had was the humidity in the bathroom as there was no airconditioning there. This is also true of the more modern villas. You can get the odd small lizard or gecko in the room but they usually stay in corners and don't run about. The hotel does operate a regular spraying programme that sorts out most of the bugs. Coming back to the UK mid-June so will probably not see you but have a great time! Just got back from WIndjam. on 5/10/05...there is extensive construct, they are adding more beach front...It is not that bad, but they do work from 8am to 6pm. I only noticed the noise two or three times the week there. The construct equip. is also present....nice place though... Report as inappropriate

They must have completed the construction as we were there the week of 5-21. There was no evidence or noise of any kind. ;-) Report as inappropriate

As a timeshare owner I know that there is a non-disturbance clause in our contract for peak times such as January-Feb and December. It might be that week 24 in June is one of those times, either that or they have had a lot of complaints! As we have a plunge pool we mainly to down to the beach for watersports so probably won't have too much noise where we are based as we overlook Castries not the beach. Thanks to everyone for the info so far! I will publish a report when I get back. Babs Report as inappropriate
