Vodafone coverage at Sandals Grande St Lucian |
|
Is there any of us Brits out there that have used their Vodafone mobiles at the Grande St Lucian? Report as inappropriate |

Hi we live in Portsmouth (originaly from Bonnybridge) and returned April from the Grande. I have T Mobile and it worked no problem in St Lucia, if your phone is Tri-band you should be O.K. but it would be a good idea just to check with Voda phone, Have a great time and kind regards. uing your own mobile can be really costly due to the roaming charges(hefty bill when you get home). I suggest that you take your mobile with you but when you get there pop int one of the mobile shops, buy a chip appx cost $25-30(ec) (7.50) then to top up will cost you appx $40 (ec) (10.00).depending on your usage is how long it will last but if you go for a two week holiday total you'd spend appx 27.50 there are three network providers on the island:1. cable and wireless 2.at & t 3.digicell my advise to you is go with digicell they seem to be the cheapest by far. 1 and 2 are american companies. and be mindfull at & t do charge a $2.00 fee for each top up,so shop around see whos giving you the best deal and take it from, there.trust me its much cheaper and you can keep a check on what you spend. as long as your fone is either tri-band or quad band you'll have no problems excessing the networks.(nokia8310 best reception ever) i notice that you wanted to know if your fone would get coverage at the grande i hope by this you don't intend to stay in your hotel, don't diss-appoint me take time out by yourselves leave behind the organised tours hire a transport or just take the local bus it's the best way to meet the people on the island you also get involved in the day to day politics of the country just the way lucians speak with such excitment makes you interested in what-ever their talking about. simple rules to apply anywhere in the world:1.keep jewellery to the bearest min don't flash the cash and don't drink to much rum in the hot sun. mobile fone shops i know are located at rodney bay shopping mall(at & t) and digicell located in castries and cable and wireless.top up cards can be bought absolutely anywhere on the island. i'm leaving for a two week trip on sunday 01.05.05 when are you off???????????????? However, if you do want to use your vodafone phone it works very well out there - have used mine several times when in st lucia - although you'll find you're on one of the local networks - but still charged back to your vodafone bill. As stated though, beware, it's very expensive. Report as inappropriate

We're off on the 8th May for 10 nights for our Weddingmoon at the Sandals Grande - thanks for all your replies. We did take a print out off from Vodafone's website back in September last year that said it was between 1.69 and 1.95 a minute to call back to the UK but we can't find that now and we are sure that we saw it a wee while back cheaper. Anyway, we are pay as you go so we've topped up our phones with plenty of credit. Some years ago we spent 3minutes each, twice, when we were at St Lucia and it cost us about $100 from our room. So that is why we wanted to make sure that we could use our mobile phones. Cheers everyone Report as inappropriate

A vodaphone call of 7 mins cost me 15 quid in December 2004. I had no trouble using it, just trouble swallowing the bill when I got home ! Report as inappropriate

Bigfishian, put Bonnybridge into the search for a laugh, being bored, and it came up with your mention of the name. Couldn't believe it could be the same as the Bonnybridge In Stirlingshire, where I lived for 20yrs, until 1987. My kids, ...all grown...and 5 grandchildren live that way still. Small world!
