Question about hillside rooms at Anse Chastanet

My fiance and I are considering booking a hillside deluxe room at Anse Chastanet for our honeymoon this July. However, I am kind of worried about the possibility of the 4th wall missing. If we have the lights on at night, won't we get a ton of bugs? What about safety? Is it possible for someone to climb in where the 4th wall is missing?

Does anyone suggest any specific rooms?

TIA for your help!

We stayed in a deluxe beach room in Feb. Although the 4th wall is "missing", you have a "wall" of shutters instead which you can close up at night. You won't have a problem with people trying to climb up your balcony as they are built on a steep hillside. Anyway, Anse Chastanet is a very safe place.

As far as bugs go, they have a very clever system: all through the hotel (rooms and public areas) you will only find yellow light bulbs - hundreds of them. It is a proven fact that bugs are not attracted to yellow light, therefore your room will be fine. They also provide mosquito nets over the beds and the chambermaid will light an anti-bug coil in the room when she turns down the bed. If you're still concerned, cover yourself with spray!

It's a great place. Enjoy!

As it is your honeymoon talk to the hotel.

Some of the hillside rooms have views of the Pitons and some do not and if you want the view they can advise on the best room.

No problems with bugs and intruders. Mosquitoe nets available in all rooms together with coils to light to keep them away. If you look at other posts on this site you will see no one has ever complained about uninvited guests in their room - this would no doubt be the second place they would have complained to if they had! There is one report on the Jalousie site where somone broke in to the room and stole the safe!

Have a great time

boucheboy, can you point me in the direction of that report? Is it here in tripadvisor reviews, I must have missed it. Don't want to miss anything, LOL.

It was a report on the Jalousie Plantation posted sometime after May 2005 but before April 2006.

Sorry I cannot be more specific

Oh well, thanks bouche

I'll take a better look...That's a shame! I hope the folks didn't have anything to valuable in the safe. I only once before read a review from the Jalousie many, many years ago that the folks weren't missing anything but thought there were foot prints inside by an open window that was previously closed. I guess it goes to show you can never be to cautious, when traveling about locking up your windows and doors when your out! :-( If it can happen on a property like the Jalousie that would be so very difficult to get in or out of easily, if your not, a mountain goat or an inside job. I guess things like this can happen anywhere.
